Chris Brown Arrested, Accuser May Have Been Rihanna
Chris Brown turned himself in to authorities last night as the Grammy Awards were happening and many are speculating that Rihanna may have called police as a result of a domestic incident between the two stars.
The biggest story to come out of the Grammy Awards last night apparently happened before the show even hit the air. Details are still sketchy, but a woman placed a call to 911 in the hours before the Grammys in an upscale neighborhood outside of Los Angeles. Chris Brown was the attacker that she named and he would eventually turn himself in to authorities while the Grammys aired.
Neither Brown nor Rihanna made scheduled appearances during the Grammy Awards and everyone seems to assume that the woman who made the 911 call is Rihanna. Investigators familiar with the case are not commenting, although they did clarify that Brown has not been charged with domestic abuse or with physically attacking his accuser. Rather, he is being charged with making a criminal threat against the woman. That simply means that a threat of violence was made that the accuser had the capacity to carry out at the time.
Early reports are suggesting that the woman did show signs of physical abuse when police arrived, but no physical abuse charges were made. Under California law, those charges can be filed later if sufficient evidence exists.
To say that this story is a shock to fans of both musicians is probably a gross understatement. Both have been enjoying fame and success at the top of the music world and seem to have been doing so while maintaining a genuine and meaningful relationship with one another. Clearly, all of that is about to change. Buckle up.
