Choosing Your Online Florist
"Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into" - Henry Beecher.

How apt these words by Henry Beecher are. Flowers are the best way to communicate any kind of emotion, from "I’m sorry" to "Thank you" and the ever-popular "I Love You". There are flowers for every occasion from birthdays, to anniversaries, for Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Buying flowers could be easy or it could be the most difficult thing you do. The right flowers, the right color, and the right mix all matter while giving a bouquet to someone you love or care for.

Technology has taken over everything and anything, and flower delivery is not to be left behind in this race with technology. All you have to do is select an online florist who will make an online flower delivery for you. Now arises the question of choosing an online or virtual florist. How does one know which virtual florist to select and which will be a good choice?

Tips to choose an online (virtual) florist
There are thousands of florists online, so how do you know which to choose and which will be worth the money spent? They may all look the same and offer the same service but be careful or scammers on the Internet who are just looking for people to fleece. Here are some tips on choosing a good florist online:
  • Experience: Look for a florist even a virtual florist that has experience in handling flowers and can give you advice on your selection. A florist with years of experience will be a good choice as they know exactly what flowers are apt, what flowers will last long and they will know the aesthetics of blooms. They should be able to put together a good bouquet for you in no time.
  • Price: Look for the price that florists are charging, if you find that the price is much more than what would be charged, ask for a break-up in cost, so that you know how much you are paying for the blooms and how much you are paying for the delivery. If you think you are being exploited, move on to the next florist please.
  • Web site: Choose a florist that has a decent website and one that allows you to communicate with other satisfied customers. This works as a reference check for the florist. Check for customer testimonials and industry credentials on the website. If the virtual florist has received any online awards this adds to the credibility.
  • Delivery: Check for the kind of delivery that virtual florists are offering. If they claim ‘instant’ delivery, do not be taken in by this or the claims for same day delivery unless it is a franchise virtual florist that has many outlets in various cities. Check for delivery charges, if these seem over the top steer clear from these florists.
  • Payment option: Check for the kind of payment options that virtual florists are offering. Most will allow for cash on delivery and credit card. While submitting your credit card details be careful to check for security on the web page, identity threat is a big deal these days and something that can be avoided if care and caution is taken. If the website looks shady do not avail of their services.
  • Check for middlemen: Try and avoid virtual florists that use too many middlemen, as this will only add to your cost. This is because you are not only paying for the flowers and delivery but also paying for middlemen.
So while you may think that a virtual florist is the perfect solution especially when you forgot to order flowers for your wife on her birthday and have no time to go out and choose a bouquet, beware of scams and con artists on the Internet.
