Choosing the Right Innerspring Mattress

The process of buying an innerspring mattress can be harder than you think especially if you want to end up with the right mattress for you. It is a good idea to have some background knowledge when choosing your innerspring mattress. There are many different types for you to sample.

Here is a quick list:
Karr
Knotted Bonnel
Marshall
Continuous
Knotted Offset

The statistics say that around 90% of the sales of mattresses are due to the innersprings. It is for this reason that the sales people study the different types and are more than happy to present you with a cut away sample of the innersprings.

But do you know what these samples mean?

Karr has springs coiled in an hourglass shape with unknotted ends and move separately from one another.

Knotted Bonnel mattresses are similar to the Karr system but each coil has 5 turns.

The Marshal method is the most common type of mattress as it is the cheapest one. It is constructed of many coils of light wire.

The Continuous method is strung through the whole of the mattress with a single piece of steel wire.

The Knotted Offset method is similar to the Bonnel mattress but the coils are finished off with square ends on the top and bottom.

Armed with information about the different coils can help you make the right choice for the mattress that suits you the best.
