Choosing Bridal Jewelry for Your Wedding Day

Should you wear a family heirloom or the newest tiara on your wedding day? How much bridal jewelry is too much? How do you make sure your wedding jewelry complements your look and dress instead of competing with it?
Family Heirloom or New Tiara: What Wedding Jewelry Set Should You Wear On Your Wedding Day?

What accessories or jewelry you will wear on your wedding day is a very personal choice. Some brides will want to spend a lot of time picking out the most gorgeous pieces while for others it is more about using cherished heirlooms that belonged to their Grandma. Jewelry is essentially the icing on the cake. It helps you look incredible by putting just the right finishing touches on your wedding ensemble. So, the question is, what should you wear to match your style, and, how much is too much?

How Much Jewelry Is Enough? Or, Too Much?

For some ladies, there seems to be no limit to the amount of extraordinary pieces they can wear. Most women love diamond wedding jewelry, and, want to be dripping with them for their wedding (or, at least, look like they are). Other ladies really look most stunning with a few key pieces added to their ensemble…more of an understated elegance. At the end of the day, you will want to have been comfortable and looked your best, so, choose what you like. One way to do this is to try on the jewelry you plan to wear, along with your dress, and have photos taken of yourself. Look at them and see which you like best.

Be sure to choose pieces that enhance, not take away from, your beauty on your special day.

What Stones Should Be In Your Wedding Jewelry?

Diamonds and Gem Stones - Should You Bring in Some Color?
Diamonds are a very popular option. However, there are many precious gemstones that are just as beautiful. The color of some of the brighter stones may go just perfectly with the colors of your wedding. Don’t be afraid to use something new or unique, if you love how it looks on you.

Match Elements That Are Already In Your Dress
If your dress has Swarovski crystals along the neckline, Swarovski jewelry may add to your look. If your gown features pearls on it or small beading, pearl wedding jewelry could look amazing with the dress.

Necklaces, Pendants, Bracelets, Tiaras and More, Oh My!
Depending on the neckline of the dress, many brides will wear at least a necklace and pendant, earrings and their engagement ring. If the neckline of the dress is highly decorated already, consider earrings and forego the necklace, or, you will find the neckline and necklace competing with each other. Other accessories include bracelets and anklets. Then there are the hair adornments. Bridal jewelry for the hair can be in the form of a tiara or colored crystals that are placed throughout the hairstyle by your stylist.

No matter what you choose to wear, be sure you try it on in advance, photograph yourself, and see which ensemble you love best, after all, the perfect wedding day comes along once in a lifetime.
