Choose Halloween Costumes That are Totally Unique

Halloween is a lot more fun, if you come up with unique Halloween costumes.
Choose Halloween Costumes That are Totally Unique
What are you planning to dress up as, when Halloween comes around? A lot of people love picking out their costumes and getting dressed up to go out to Halloween events. Sadly, though, the majority of people aren’t very creative, when choosing their Halloween costumes. How many times have you dressed up as a witch or a vampire or a sexy something-or-other? It’s probably too many times to count. If you’ve ever actually gone out of your way to create a totally unique costume then you know that doing this is a lot more fun than just wearing the same old tired costumes that everyone else will be wearing. It’s simply no fun to put effort into getting into your costume only to show up at a Halloween event and see half a dozen other people there who are wearing basically the same thing. That’s why you should make it a point to think outside of the box, when it comes to Halloween, this year. Doing so will allow the whole process of Halloween to be a lot more fun.

So, how do you come up with a Halloween costume that is totally unique? It’s not easy, but getting started isn’t actually all that tough at all. What you want to do is to start backwards and work your way up from there. Sit down with a piece of paper and a pen. Brainstorm on all the Halloween costumes that you think other people are going to be wearing this year. Start with the standard costumes that we see everywhere (such as, pirates and witches). Then, start thinking about the popular celebrities, movies and political topics that are of interest to people right now. Chances are that a lot of people will try to get creative by going with a current event costume related to one of these. By brainstorming all of those possible costume ideas, you’ll come up with a long list of what everyone else is wearing. That’s your starting point because to figure out what you want to wear, you need to start by deciding what you don’t want to wear.

Now, you’ve got two options. Either you can try to brainstorm a list of creative costume ideas from scratch, or you can go through your existing list and see what type of twist you can put on the costumes that other people will be wearing. If you’re feeling truly creative, then you should go with the first option because it’s the most fun. Spend some time imagining costume ideas. Do some daydreaming. Think about all of the things that you wanted to be when you were a child. Imagine a fantasy land filled with creatures straight out of your own imagination. Once you have a list, double-check it against your first list to make sure that none of your genius ideas have actually been done before. Choose one that hasn’t and get started making your costume.

If you start to do this and get stuck, then you’ll want to revert to Plan B, which is to figure out a way to put a new twist on the Halloween costumes that other people will be wearing. You can do this by combining costume ideas that are already on the list. For example, you can dress up as a popular celebrity who has turned into a vampire. Alternatively, you can put the costume into a new time period. You can be the teenage version of an aging politician, the Victorian-era version of a modern starlet or the Renaissance side of a common costume like a witch. These little twists will make it a lot more fun to put your costume together. It’ll also be a lot more fun to show that costume off at the events that you attend. Happy Halloween!
