How to Remove Chocolate Stains

Removing Chocolate Stains from Clothes

Chocolate can be a sweet nightmare if you get your favorite white outfit stained with it. Children easily stain their clothes with chocolate and its difficult for the mothers to get rid of the stains. However, with early stain removal steps, chocolate stains can be removed. Whenever you get a chocolate stain, the first thing to be done is to let the chocolate dry. If you try to remove the melted chocolate, you may end up spreading the chocolate stain. So it is always recommended that you allow the chocolate stain to dry. Once the stain gets dried, scrape the chocolate from the cloth. Use a kitchen knife or any blunt edge to scrape away the chocolate. See that scraping is done gently, without harming the fabric. Then hold the fabric inside out, under tap water. This will help to drain out extra chocolate particles left on the cloth. Then, apply a stain remover to the affected area. You can even use a liquid detergent powder instead of a stain remover. Once you have applied the detergent or stain remover, leave it for 10 minutes. Later, wash the cloth and scrub the stained area with a brush. Use warm water to wash the stained cloth and get rid of the stain completely.

Removing Chocolate Stains from Carpets

Removing stains from carpets can be a daunting task. Many times, during a party or any social function at home, chocolate stains are easily formed on the carpets. You need not worry as you can remove the stain with some efforts. You will need ammonia, detergent and water to remove chocolate stains from a carpet. First, leave the chocolate to dry until it hardens, else blot the chocolate with some soft cloth. See that you do not spread the chocolate stain while blotting. Leaving the stain to dry is always a better option instead of blotting. Later, scrape the stain with a blunt edge. Use a mixture of liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water and apply it to the carpet. Sponge the carpet with this solution and later blot the liquid from the carpet with a clean cloth. Repeat the procedure until the chocolate stain disappears. If the stain does not disappear, make a mixture of one tablespoon of ammonia and one cup of water. Gently apply this mixture to the stained area and blot it with a clean cloth. Ensure that no ammonia remains on your carpet. Using ammonia can be dangerous, so it is recommended that you preferably use the first method.
