According to surveys made about how much Americans love their signature dessert, it has been found that 39 percent thought that the pie’s smell conjured up happy memories, and 47 percent associated the word ‘comforting’ whenever they thought of pie. And, it was also determined that 27 percent Americans associated romance with chocolate pie.
So lovers of romance and chocolate pie rejoice! Here are a few simply delicious chocolate pie recipes that you can indulge in, and perhaps bring back romance in your life with.
Chocolate Pecan Pie Recipe
1 9-inch pastry shell, unbaked
3 eggs, beaten slightly
1 cup dark or light corn syrup
1 4 oz package of sweet chocolate, or 4 squares.
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
1/3 cup sugar
2 tbsp butter or margarine, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup pecan halves
Begin by heating the oven to 350 degrees. Put corn syrup, eggs, sugar, chocolate, vanilla, and butter in a large bowl and blend them all together. Add the pecans, and stir them in. Pour the mixture into the pastry shell and bake for about 50-60 minutes. Remove and cool on a wire rack.
Chocolate Fudge Pie Recipe
1 9-inch pie crust
1 14 oz can condensed milk, sweetened
6 oz. chocolate chips
Nuts, chopped
Cook the pie crust at medium high in the microwave for about 7 minutes. Put the condensed milk in a 4 quart measure and microwave on high for about 11/2 minutes. Then stir in the chocolate chips, until they melt. Pour this into the pie shell, and microwave for 3 minutes on high. Then, sprinkle the top with the chopped nuts and microwave again for 2 minutes on high. Let it stand for around 5-10 minutes. Then allow to cool.
German Style Chocolate Pie
1 9-inch pastry shell
1 4 oz package of sweet chocolate
14 oz can evaporated milk
1/4 cup butter or oleo
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/8 tsp salt
3 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1 1/3 cup coconut, flaked
Whipped cream or topping
Put butter and chocolate in a saucepan and place it on heat to melt them both. The, blend in the evaporated milk gradually. Mix the salt, cornstarch and sugar. Then, beat in the vanilla and eggs. Then, blend the chocolate mixture in gradually. Pour this into the pastry shell. Combine the nuts and coconut and sprinkle over the filling. Bake for 45 minutes at 375 degrees, or until the top is browned and puffed up. Although at this stage the filling will be soft, it will set later. Allow to cool for 4 hours. Top with whipped cream.
Silky French Chocolate Pie
1 pastry shell, baked
2 squares of unsweetened chocolate, melted
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Cream together the sugar and butter. Add the vanilla and melted butter. Add one of the eggs and beat at medium speed for about 5 minutes. Then add the second egg, and beat for 5 more minutes. Pour this mixture into the pastry shell and put it into the refrigerator. When serving, garnish with whipped cream.
Chocolaty Meringue Pie
1 9-inch pastry shell
2 squares of chocolate
2 egg yolks
3/4 cup sugar
3 tbsp cornstarch
3 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
Put 2 cups of milk in a bowl and grate the chocolate into it. Place this over hot water in order to melt the chocolate. Blend the sugar, cornstarch, flour and salt together with ½ cup of milk. When the chocolate melts completely add to egg yolks that have been beaten well, stirring constantly. Add the sugar and flour mixture. Cook this over boiling water, continuing to stir constantly, until it thickens. Add the vanilla, and allow to cool. Put this into the pastry shell.
To make the meringue beat the egg whites until it becomes stiff, then gradually add the sugar. Spread this on the pie. Bake for 7 minutes at 300 degrees.
