Childish Fears

This poem portrays fears that children often have at bed time and encourages parents to strengthen the children with their love.
Childish fears are so unreal
Yet real enough to them.
Vivid scenes fill their minds
As alone at night they spend.

Creaking floors and squeaking doors
Can bring terror to young hearts.
Shadows racing across the walls
Make imaginations start.

Was that a witch? Maybe a ghoul?
Storms within their heads.
Could it be some scary monster
Drooling under their beds?

Don't let these fears consume their brains
Deep within the night.
Walk straight in to console them
And turn on a brilliant light.

Let them feel the power of love
That can overcome all dark.
Strengthen them with a great big hug.
Your comfort will leave its mark

And when they are grown, yes, very big
Their stalwart demeanor will shine
They will foster love and confidence
and to their own children, be kind.
