Childhood Lie

It’s all just a lie…
Your world once seemed so bright
It would burst into color when you awoke
Flowers bloomed around you in every shade of every color
You would pet every dog you walked by
Pick up ever stray cat
That came across your path
You would whistle to the birds that sat in your fence
Protect ever bug from being stepped on
You life was grand
Your life was swell
It was all just a lie

That world you once knew
When you skipped along the sidewalk
Ran in the sunlight
Was nothing
What would await you on the other side?
What would haunt you from birth to death?
Life

Your eyes began to dull
And saw harsh reality
Of what you had really stepped into
The friends you once knew
Merged into the blur of the world
You now see before you
The family you once loved
The ones that cared for you
Made you life more difficult with each passing day
People pilled everything on your shoulders
Told you to do everything without a mistake

What if I told you that your childhood
Is just a lie
Would you believe me?
No!

Soon you’ve lost everything
That made everything better
Then your world turns black
A big old rock above
Its over
The lie was buried.
