Chicken Crockpot Recipe – Can it be gourmet?

Take a look at these few hints about chicken crockpot recipes and you will soon be cooking my meals you’re your visitors rave about.
Can you really make an interesting chicken crockpot recipe? Most cooks, when they think about crockpot cooking they just consider a crockpot stew. Now a chicken stew is delicious but there is so much more you can do with your crock pot.

So many times we have received emails asking for a ‘new’ crockpot recipe. Something gourmet and unusual but nothing complicated. This is so easy with your slow cooker.

Home makers often seem to just use their crockpot for one or two things and can’t seem to think of anything new and interesting.

Ok. The basics are to put the vegetables in the bottom of the crock pot and then add the meat and pour the liquid on top.

Now, remembering this principle you can take any normal casserole recipe and convert in easily into a crock pot recipe.

So, for the times when you want something a bit more gourmet, just find your favorite chicken recipe out of a recipe book or foodie magazine.

Adapting a normal recipe to work in the crockpot is easy. Most people we speak to are scared still of trying to adapt a recipe.

There is nothing to be scared of.

So we already know to place the veggies in the slow cooker first. This will ensure they cook in time. And then the poultry goes on top of the vegetables.

Simple. Just remembering this is part way to a delicious crockpot meal already.

Now to the rest of the recipe.

Because we always use the slow cooker with the lid on, it makes sense that we have less evaporation and therefore will need less liquid.

So all you need do is reduce the amount of fluid.

As an estimate just ensure the veggies are just covered with liquid.

If there is too much fluid - half an hour before serving mix up a little water with some corn and stir this into the crock pot. Turn on high and by the time you are ready to serve the meal out, it will have thickened.

About an hour before serving, take a taste because the long cooking may have destroyed the effect of the herbs and spices. And add more if needed and some salt and pepper if required.

Well, there you have it. An easy way to create an original delicious chicken crockpot meal.

That’s all I do to create all our delicious crock pot recipes at www.A-Crock-Cook.com.

Until our next Crockpot Meal
Enjoy Cooking!
