Chew Your Food Slowly

Most of us have heard that the healthy way to eat is to eat slowly in order or to enjoy food. But how many of us do that? Have you tried really to enjoy food? A great percentage of people don’t enjoy their food because they eat fast.
Most of us have heard that the healthy way to eat is to eat slowly in order or to enjoy food. But how many of us do that? Have you tried really to enjoy food? A great percentage of people don’t enjoy their food because they eat fast.

There are various reasons that make us eat fast and deprive us from enjoying our food.

Number 1:
In the modern times, we hear see and read about diets and weight loss everywhere. So food became an enemy and eating became a sin. So we eat fast in order to finish this ‘’sinful’’ act as fast as possible.

Number 2:
For the same reason mentioned above, there is a kid of guilt accompanying eating. So we eat fast in order to escape the guilty feeling we have during eating.

Number 3:
Sometimes we have an unfinished task so we want to finish eating fast in order to finish it.

Number 4:
We simply don’t focus on food. We are usually thinking about or doing other things. For instance, watching telly, reading or thinking about problems.

Enough is enough! We have to show respect for food. Believe it or not, enjoying your food can keep you in a good mood and elevate your spirits! (I’ve tried it myself)

How to enjoy your food?

Tell yourself that you are going to eat only. No other activity should be done while eating.
Decorate the food in your plate. The eye eats before the mouth sometimes!
Sit on the table.
Focus on the food.
Chew every bite slowly and enjoy the taste in your mouth as much as possible.
You can listen to classical music.
It is preferable to eat with small utensils and in small plates.
Choose plates that make you enjoy your food. For instance, don’t eat in a black plate.
Don’t feel guilty while eating. The point is not to eat too much.
Don’t eat while standing up.
Don’t answer the phone during your meal.
Don’t think about anything that annoys you.
Don’t eat fast.
Don’t eat fast.
Don’t eat fast.

Food is bliss, it’s not a sin. Indulge yourself, you deserve it!
