Chest pain is a common problem seen amongst many people, especially the middle-aged. The term 'chest pain' is often used to describe any pain, chocking, pressure or any other discomfort in chest, neck or upper abdomen. This pain can occur frequently or rarely and might last from a second to a few weeks. Remember chest pain is not a problem in itself, it is just a symptom. Chest pain can occur due to a lot of reasons. Before you start treating chest pain, it is important to identify the underlying cause of this problem.

Causes of Chest Pain After Eating
If you experience chest pain after eating, it can be due to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). If the acidic fluid from the stomach is carried back into the esophagus, it leads to heartburn. Heartburn causes a burning discomfort in the area just below the breastbone. It might also lead to problems like bloating and gas. Heartburn is the common symptom of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Heartburn is amongst the common causes of chest pain after eating.

There might be a burning sensation in the throat or a sour or bitter taste in the mouth. When the stomach contents reflux up into the esophagus, they might also reach the back of the throat causing a sour and bitter taste in the mouth. Also, nausea after eating is a very common problem caused due to the same reason.

There might be a difficulty in swallowing if food does not pass from the mouth through esophagus to the stomach. This is one of the primary causes of chest pain. These symptoms increase after consuming tobacco or caffeine. Sometimes you might also face a problem of heart palpitations after eating. This might be due to extreme indigestion. If you eat too much food, it might lead to indigestion and gas. Fatigue after eating is also caused due to overeating. If you feel tired after eating, this might be a reaction to certain food items. Sweets, bakery items, foods high in flour and sugar may cause a feeling of tiredness.

Dizziness after eating is commonly caused due to gastritis. Inflammation of the stomach lining leads to gastritis. This inflammation is most probably due to dietary irregularity, overeating and junk food. Excessive intake of oily food, tea, coffee, alcohol and stress are some other causes of gastritis. You would observe that all the problems like nausea, dizziness, tiredness and chest pain after eating are mainly caused due to a unhealthy diet and wrong eating habits.

Remedies of Chest Pain After Eating
In order to avoid the problem of heart palpitations, tiredness, nausea, dizziness and chest pain after eating, you must follow the the undermentioned instructions.

Healthy eating is the most important thing to be followed. Avoiding chocolate, peppermint, fatty foods, coffee, and alcoholic beverages will help in reducing this problem. Citrus fruits and juices, and tomato products might irritate and damage the esophageal lining, so these should be strictly avoided. Eating 3-4 meals and reducing the amount of food is important. Proper hydration is very important to cure digestion related problems, hence, drinking 7-8 glasses of water daily is a must. Also, eating food at least 2 hours before you go to bed is recommended to solve the problem of chest pain after eating. A small walk after eating is very beneficial for proper digestion.

Following a healthy diet plan and proper timing of breakfast, lunch and dinner should help resolve common problems like nausea and chest pain after eating.
