After the road trip that seems like heaven and hell at the same time seems Jade and derek are becoming close. Will a trip to the famous stonehenge bring them close and if so too close for comfort or too close that causes confusion. Watch this space!
Chapter 4: Chasing memories and dreams.
After the long road trip my legs felt stiff like the rest of my body and my eyes felt dry like toast, the feeling I get when I'm sleep deprived. I decided I looked terrible when I tried to sneak a glance of myself in the review mirror...Oh my word I looked liked I hadn't washed in a few days and my hair looked like a birds nest.
"Um are we possibly stopping anytime soon at a place where I could get cleaned up maybe?" This was the first word I said to him the rest of the drive as the little incident with me not having much clothes on made me quite embarrassed. He grinned at me and winkedd. Urgh this boy drives me crazy. "Don't worry you don't look that bad, just like a zombie with bad hair that's all". He replied. My reaction was giving him a thump on his arm." Hey how am I supposed to drive if you're going to abuse me all the way"? He grumbled. So we road off in silence and finally he stopped at a bed and breakfast seems I was allowed to use the shower if I paid days rent...
He left me at the bed and breakfast while he picked up some things at a shop near where I was. When I asked him what he needed to buy he said breakfast which I couldn't understand until I agreed to a full house English breakfast as Derek was taking so long to arrive and also because I wanted a real taste of English food. When they set the plate in front of me I realized why Derek thought muffins in plastic and coffee in Styrofoam cups was better than this. I grimaced and took a bite. The eggs were rubbery and cold. The tomatoes were slimy and the sausages swimming in oil. Yuck first kidney in a pie now this. "Uhm thank you so much ma'am but I have to leave now", I said before running out the front entrance and running smack into Derek and letting the coffees fly out his hands down his front.
"Gees girl, you must really dislike me hey ", Derek said while blotting a napkin on his shirt. For once I felt sorry for him, here I was clean, dry neat hair and fresh clothes and here he was sticky and smelling of cheap coffee. "Hey I'm sorry why you don't take a shower and change I'll wait." He smiled and nodded thanks and for once he didn't wink as he disappeared with dry clothes and shampoo into the bed and breakfast.
I was starting on my second muffin as he hopped into the car looking gorgeous and smelling good, wet hair dripping like a shaggy wet dog. A cute shaggy wet dog... "So I don't thin I've been doing my job right, today I'm taking you to a surprise tourist site then later another surprise that might make you like a little bit." He smiled at me and I smiled back. Finally I answered." What makes you think I'd like you?" He replied," Because, I'm infectious like a disease, you just have to live with me and eventually it'll be because you want to."
I fell asleep and early afternoon I was woken up and the first thing I noticed was a large pair of eyes and teeth caused by a creepy big grin, Good afternoon sunshine!" Said Derek. "Ahhhhhh, What the heck! Derek that was so creepy!" He laughed and sighed ah look out the window missy it'll make up for it. I looked outside and saw an impossibly green field of grass never ending and huge stone pillars and then I realized." The famous
Stonehenge! I exclaimed. "Hehe yes, thought it was about time I took you to a tourist sight so your trip would seem worthwhile and not like a never ending road trip that was meant to be a backpacking trip alone without annoying Derek..." "Hey you're not annoying. Well...ok maybe a little but you are cute." I replied and regretted it immediately."Uh you think I'm cute?" He replied moving closer and giving me a cheeky smile. Trying to change the subject I edged away from him and stared at the pillars." Do you know that the story behind the stone henge's are for pagan rituals of some sort but they couldn't find enough evidence for it." I said hoping to distract him as he edged closer." Wait ...stand still Jade." He said finally standing in front of me and leaning close to my face. Oh boy is he going to kiss me? Do I want him to kiss me? Yes! Yes! Take a deep breath Jade.
