Charity Credit Cards Explained

Charity credit cards are ideal if you want to donate money for philanthropic pursuits.
Credit cards come in a variety of different forms. In many instances, the reason different cards are produced is because there is much competition out there for the cards. Most people only have a small handful of cards. They will generally look towards those cards that possess the best deals and interest rates.

In some cases, they will also look towards those cards that come with excellent rewards and cash back offers, and gift certificates. Then, there are those cards that present something quite unique. These cards are known as charity credit cards and they are designed for philanthropic pursuits.

Well, okay, the charity credit cards are not solely for philanthropic pursuits. People use the cards for various personal financial reasons. They are not so much looking to do much other than their regular traditional use of the credit cards. However, when they do use these cards they are making contributions to charity. This is done through a series of matching payments from the credit card when you make your monthly balance payments.

For example, for every $500 you pay back on a credit card, the credit card provider will send $5 to the charity listed on the credit card. Over the life of your holding of the credit card, this could lead to a nice sum of money paid towards the charity. This certainly benefits the charity as well as the credit card provider. (Yes, the credit card company will be able to take tax deductions on the money sent to the charity.)

And there will also be a number of positives enjoyed by the holder of the credit card as well. Namely, a great deal of personal satisfaction can be enjoyed by those that feel their credit card payments are helping support a popular charity. Some may downplay such sentiments but this would be unfortunate feelings to embody. Any help to a charity should be embodied with positive sentiment. After all, the monetary flow is helping a good cause.

It is also necessary to point out that in today's economic climate charitable contributions are down. People are just not making the kind of money they wish to make as earnings and employment are down. This leaves little left over to give to charity.

As such, charities start to suffer as a result. Again, this is quite unfortunate because so many charities perform great work and are in dire need of financial support and help. The charity credit cards help promote this support which is why they are so valuable.

Remember, many people will look towards cards with the best interest rates and no (or low) annual fees. If the credit card happens to be a charity credit card, then so be it. Many people will sign on to them not even realizing they are supporting charitable ventures. Honestly, this is not a bad thing as long as the money reaches the proper destination and yields positive results.
