Chapter 3
Just another chapter! Hope you enjoy, and please comment to tell me what you think!!
Mrs. Brown pulled up to the school with a screeching stop. I got up quickly, grabbed my bag, and without waiting for Jennifer or Sage, walked quickly down the bus steps. I turned a sharp right, and laid my back on the side of the bus. I breathed in through my nose, out through my mouth, trying to clear my mind of what happened during the bus ride. I opened my eyes to see Jennifer and Sage starring at me.
"Addy, you OK? You don't look so good. Your turning pale." Jennifer said. Sage rolled her eyes at how worried Jennifer looked, and walked away with another group of girls. 'Well, there goes Sage.'
"Yeah... I'm fine Jen. Thanks. So did you...." I trailed off, as my eyes followed Wesley down the steps, Troy and Xavier following him. Wesley looked at me, and motioned his head to a far tree near the edge of the school. Xavier and Troy found my eyes staring and sneered at me.
"....ADDY!!! What are you starring at! Ughh... never mind.. I'll talk to you in Biology, OK?" Jen asked. She sounded annoyed that I was ignoring her. I just nodded my head faintly and started to walk to where Wesley motioned. It was a tall Oak, but with pretty pink and white flowers just in bloom. The air was still ice-cold, the air nipping at my cheeks, making goose bumps come on my arm. I forgot my jacket in my room, AGAIN. I was just wearing my purple shirt, and bare arms. Suddenly, I hear a small crunch of leaves and a soft velvety voice, with a moderate Mexican accent. It was Wesley.
"Hi Addy. You cold?" He asked, as he crouched near me. He moved with such fluid movements, no human could ever do without years of practice.
"N-n-no! M-me c-col-ld? N-n-ever." My teeth chattered silently, as I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to give myself some kind of warmth.
"You know, Addy, I'm not really good with this kind of stuff. But if I would have known better, I would say your lying, and lying very badly. Here." He stood up, my eyes just watching at how graceful his movements were. He unzipped his red jacket, revealing a purple short sleeved shirt underneath. I was going to protest, but he draped his jacket over my shoulders, and sat back down next to me. It was so warm... and the smell was so sweet... nothing even close to the warmest honey. I grabbed the ends, without protest, and pulled them closer to me.
"Th-thank you, but won't YOU be cold?" I asked, as my chattering was beginning to decrease.
"No, I didn't need it anyway. I guess I just wanted to make sure I had it for..... reasons." He said, with a small twinkle in his eye and a chuckle.
"Ha, reasons. Reasons like girls forgetting their jackets at home, and you draping your jacket over them?" I asked, thick with sarcasm. Here I am, sitting on damp grass, with the most angelic boy I've ever seen, yet I have no clue who the hell he is, and wearing his jacket over me like a couple going out for 6 months. How pathetic of me. Somehow, I am beginning to REALLY like this Wesley.
Then, he dropped the charm, and became serious, which I thought was a little funny, but I didn't show it.
"So," he began, "How long has your house been Demonized?" He asked.
"For about a few weeks I guess. It started like... three Saturdays ago, I think. But they went away, for some reason, and I was thankful. But then a new demon came in my room, and that was this morning. Normally, the same demons would come, and I would only see them in my dreams. When I would wake up shaking and screaming, I would look at my door entryway, to see them floating quickly out of my room, leaving a thick trail of blood, which would dissolve in a matter of seconds, but the stench would stick in my room for hours." I said, as flashbacks of horror ran through my mind, being reminded about the bloody message left on my wall. I let a shudder escape once more. I noticed Wesley scoot an inch closer to me. I buried my face in his scented jacket, smiling. I felt as if I've known him from somewhere.... but then again, not. I ended up thinking out loud.
"....I feel as if, I've known you from somewhere..." My words being muffled by his jacket, and didn't expect for him to hear me.
"I know, I get that a lot." He said, with a chuckle. He looked at me, and silenced quickly, when I gave him a 'shut up' look.
"Well, we better get to class. It's almost time." He said, already getting up. I looked up at him, not wanting to give back the jacket, or to get up. I was finally warm, and comfortable... more than I have been in the past few weeks. I glanced at another big Oak tree behind him, then did I see someone... no. Something peering from the side of it. My heart started to beat inside my ears, blocking all sound. I was afraid of the thing hiding. Yes, I was purply afraid. I made eye contact with Wesley.
'Wes. Wait, Ha! I got it down!!'
'Hahah wow Addy. Well, uhh, congrats, I guess. And what?'
'Ok.... There is... something... hiding behind one of the Oak trees behind you. It's dressed in black, IF its dressed in anything.'
'Awww CRAP! Seriously? Ok, get up, slowly, and stay behind me.'
'O...ok.'
And the conversation was over. Just like that. A whole lot easier than I thought it would be. I got up, with the help of a helping hand by Wess. I immediately walked behind him, putting my hand lightly on the small of his back; an instinct I have. Then I noticed that there was no one around, absolute silence, except for Wesley's accelerated breathing. But there was something else... that didn't seem to be... right. So many questions were running through my mind at that moment, I couldn't keep track. I was so distracted, that I didn't even notice Wesley pull out a small dagger. I looked at it, as he pushed this button, and the dagger probably lengthened about 3 or 4 feet, into a long sword, and began to brighten. The color of the sword changed from a dull gray, to a blinding yellowish-white. As this was happening, Wesley never lost his glare at the creature.
"Demon, show your self!!" Wesley shouted. The thing behind the tree slowly stalked into view. I could feel Wesley's breath catch, and him going rigid all over. I looked at him, without saying anything, and following his wide eyes at the black figure about 15 feet in front of us. I, too, went wide-eyed. The demon's hood fell as it moved from its hiding spot. The demon, was hideous. It's eyes were endless pits of blackness, constantly oozing crimson fluid. Blood. My eye contact with the thing was unbearable. My stomach churned just by looking at the horrid demon. Wes was still standing protectively in front of me, holding the glowing sword lightly in his grasp.
"Let the Chosen One be, Wesley Downs. Put that sword down. You have no skill of a Demonseeker." The demon hissed. As it spoke, a million goose bumps rose on my arms. As it opened its mouth to speak, a drop of blood seeped through its' blood stained fangs. Again, my stomach flipped. All this time, I've been staring in horror at the demon destined to kill me.
Suddenly, it disappeared; out of sight. Next thing I knew, I was in sheering pain in my right arm. Long, thick claws were burying themselves into my skin. Blood was gushing out from the wound. I let out a piercing scream, as I was dragged on the ground into darkness, by my arm. The last thing I saw was Wesley's shock and... dare I say it... terrified expression. He was running towards me, before I disappeared into nothingness. While I was being dragged, I was hoping, praying, that I would survive my first official day of my personal Hell.
"Addy, you OK? You don't look so good. Your turning pale." Jennifer said. Sage rolled her eyes at how worried Jennifer looked, and walked away with another group of girls. 'Well, there goes Sage.'
