Chapter 2

Chapter 2 of my book. By the way, the book is called Chosen One. Hope you like it and please comment!! :)
The bus was cold and musky. I sat next to Jennifer and Sage, 5 rows from the front. At first, I didn't see Kat, until I looked at the very back of the bus. I felt my mouth gape open. I say Kat sitting next to an average sized boy, with dark skin, dark brown eyes, and black hair. And what shocked me more, they were HOLDING HANDS. I had never seen the boy before, and Kat had never talked about him. I felt a small pain in my stomach. Stupid jealousy. Kat saw me in shock and laughed. She said something to the boy, who looked at me, and laughed. Well, I'll just have to torture her with questions during recess.
"WAIT!!" Called someone I have never heard before.

My heart went straight into my throat. Jogging up the bus stairs was a tall, lanky boy about 6 foot tall. He had brown hair, wore somewhat skinny jeans, black shoes, with blue laces. He also wore a black shirt, and a red jacket with white writing across it. And his eyes... gosh... the most beautiful dark brown imaginable. He walks slowly, waiting for his friends. He still continued to walk, getting closer to our seat. I never stopped starring at him, when he finally made eye contact with me. He smiled cutely at me, and sat three rows behind me. Following behind him were two other guys. One had really curly brown hair and braces, and was a little taller than I was, and the other one had a little darker skin, a little shorter than I was, short brown hair, and also had braces. The other two glanced at me, then at Jennifer, then Sage, and smirked.

"Hey Wess. So you got the part as the soldier for the play, huh? Haha, trying to show off to the ladies, eh?"
Stated the curly haired boy. The taller boy, Wess, just gave the curly haired boy a disgusted look. I giggled at it. 'Ughh, I'm such a girl! Please, please, please don't let me be crushing on this Wess.'
"Yes, I did Troy. And I cannot believe you would think that of me! I'm glad I got the soldier. I would DIE if I got Jesus.... Taking off the robe.... Ughh." Wess said, with a shudder at the end.

I turned around then, not interested anymore in their conversation. The bus was still parked in front of my house. It wouldn't leave for probably another 10 minutes. I picked up my backpack, rummaging through it for my phone. 'Damn. I left it in my room... Oh GOSH! I LEFT IT IN MY ROOM!' Crap.
"Addy, you OK? What you looking for?" Jennifer asked. She, Sage, and Kat were my best friends. Kat was STILL in the back with the dark skinned boy.

"Oh, just my phone Jen. I.... must have left it in.. my room. I'll be.. right back. And before you say ANYTHING, I don't like that tall guy." I said, as I got up quickly, not wanting to spend more than 3 minutes in my room. I planned my mission out simply. I run in the house, snatch my phone off my dresser, and run out, hopefully under 5 minutes.
"Oh my God Addy. How the hell did you know that I was going to say anything about him?! I looked totally innocent! " Jennifer wailed.
How did I know? I just heard my thought say the words she WOULD say, and... yeah. Really weird....

"Hahah, I have NO clue Jen. Just forget 'bout it, OK? I'll be right back." I said, already getting up out of my seat. I walked quickly through the middle isle, to where the bus lady was. 'Now, time to get my cute on.'
"Hello Mrs. Brown. I think I left something in my room, and the bus doesn't leave for another 8 minuets, I do believe. May I go and get it?" I said cutely. NO one can resist my cuteness. My round face, finally clear of acne. And then there's the eyes. My eyes were average size, but the color of them is what really tripped people out. They were brown, yes. But there was a hint of green in them, and when people looked into them, I would get the SAME response for the people who look long enough. 'Oh wow, Addy. Your eyes are really pretty.'

Every time.... the same thing. Mrs. Brown didn't stand a chance.
"Oh. Miss Rose.... Uhh.." She said, making the daring eye contact.
"Of.. of course." She said, breaking the eye contact to open the bus door. I stepped out of the bus with a small thank you, and a smile when my back was turned to her. Then I remember what I had to do. I was purely terrified. Sucking in a deep breath, I ran. I ran as fast as my long legs could carry me. Through the front door I went, and relatively quiet so I wouldn't wake my mom. Up the stairs I jogged, timing myself. Im into 3 minuets. 'Two more, two more.' I kept repeating in my head. When I got up the stairs, I ran quietly to my room, which was second to last room. I got in my room, grabbed my phone, and stopped.

My room smelled like blood. My heart was thumping in my ears now. I turned slowly to face one of my walls. There, written blood across the wall, 'You can run, but you can't hide Addison Nicole Rose' I started to run. Run faster than I ever thought I could. Back down the stairs, and out the door, slamming it. My mom could yell at me all she wants when I get home. The bus was still parked in the same spot 'Oh, thank God!' I stopped running to catch my breath. I was in there for 5 and a half minutes. Half a minute longer than wanted, but I'm still alive. I walked to the door of the bus and knocked. The door opened, and I walked past Mrs. Brown, not making any eye contact to anyone, and sat back down near Jennifer, still breathing heavily.

"Wow Addy. You OK? You ran all just for your phone? Someone's addicted." Sage commented. Jennifer was wearing a black shirt, with some kind of Japanese writing and a little anime girl in the corner of it and jeans. Sage was wearing a green shirt with a comical turtle on it saying "Speedy Gonzalez" in black letters across the front of it, and jeans, as well. Sage was a major turtle fan.
"Hahah, yeah. I can't go anywhere without my phone."
I turned my cell phone on, and unlocked it. I had a new text from Kat.
"Hey Addy. I know you're surprised by who I'm sitting with. All I'm going to tell you is that I met him at summer school and his name is Cameron. I'll tell you everything during lunch. I'll introduce him to you when we get out to recess."

I sighed. I was a little jealous of her, how she found her special someone, and I didn't. I'll just... have to wait. And I need to have a little talk with this Cameron. A poke on my shoulder snapped me out of my own thoughts. Jennifer poked me.
"Hey. Ok. So, I can totally tell you like that Wess guy." she said, with a little smirk and a jerk back with her head.
"I do not, Jennifer! I don't even know him!" I wailed. I did like him, but, like I told her, I don't even know him, and he could already have a girlfriend.

"True. But Addy. Have you ever heard of love at first sight? I can TOTALLY see you two together!" She exclaimed, getting louder. I rushed to put my hands on her mouth, making her push against Sage, making her squeal in surprise.

"Both of you. Quiet. And sorry Sage. Didn't mean to. Anyway, sure. He's cute, I guess. But his friends freak the hell out of me." I said. I would truly say anything to get the thought of me liking this Wesley out of their head. The bus started to move then, and the conversation was dropped. Right before the bus started to move, my friend Michael walked onto the bus. He was blond, and a little short. He was as tall as Wesley's other friend, not Troy. He had a million freckles, and baby blue eyes. Jennifer got totally wide eyed when he got on the bus. She's liked him for almost two years, not wanting him to know. I was going to tell him a few times, but Jennifer wouldn't let me even try. Following him, was Robert. He was another friend of mine, and a crush of Sage's. She's head over heels for this guy, and he has no clue. Boys are so clueless sometimes. As Jennifer did, Sage got wide eyed, her green eyes twice as large.

"You know, Jennifer, you make your liking Michael totally obvious when you go all goggly eyes over him, and same with you Sage, for Robert." I said, with a laugh. They both turned towards me, not laughing at all. When I came back from my bloodshed room, I was forced into the middle of the two. I never should have opened my mouth. They both pulled their hands back, slapped my arm hard, and shouted at the same time,"Oh, SHUT UP!" I looked behind us, at Wesley, Troy, and the other guy whose name I haven't learned yet.

They were all wide eyed, when they heard Jennifer and Sage yell at me. I made eye contact again with Wesley, whose dark, daring eyes bore into mine. I only was able to see Troy through my peripheral right side, and he was trying to get the smaller guy's attention, noticing Wesley and I starring at each other. I felt my cheeks turning scarlet red. I finally broke the eye contact, and slouched down in my seat, trying to clear my head. The most freakiest thing happened during our starring:

I started to hear his voice.. in MY head. It was like.... we were having a conversation in our own heads. Back and forth. Like.. telepathy. But I don't believe it. So many weird things are happening today... Maybe I really AM going crazy... But the conversation... it was so.. simple.... and scary. It was like he knew that something was different about me. I knew I wasn't like Jennifer or Sage. But not in the stupid way. I saw things other people had to squint their eyes to see. I could run the mile in 6 and a half minuets.

I can catch a 96 mph fast ball with my bare hands. With a small jerk with my hands, and two fingers against it, I could snap a chicken bone. But, I just thought I was built for these things, not thinking I had 'powers' or anything. But I was almost SURE I was just imagining the conversation. WHen we talked, it seemed the whole world slowed down, because we talked to much, when really, to the human eye, it just looked as if we made eye contact for a few seconds, nothing more. He talked all in a rush, but I understood everything.

'Hello.'
'Hi? How... how did you get in my head.'
'Haha, I'm not like the average human, and neither are you.'
'Yeah, I kind of figured. Your friend... Troy? He's watching us.'
'Yes. I know. And the guy next to him, is Xavier.'
'Xavier. That's his name. Ok. Wait, how did you know that I was abnormal? Who... are you? Are you some kind of physic?'
'Hush. No more questions. I'm new to Clear-Wood High. You don't know me, but I know you. We have every class together. Sit with me in the very back during lunch. I'll explain everything. Now look away, before people start thinking things.'
'Uhh.. OK'

Then I turned, and my head was dizzy. I closed me eyes when I slouched, feeling sick. I could feel myself going pale.
"Addy!! Addy, are you OK? You look horrible." Said Jennifer and Sage.
"Thanks guys. 'Cause that's what EVERY girl wants to hear. Yeah... I'm fine.... Just.. car sick." I said, feeling the nausea fading. Jen was the next to speak.
"OMG! Addy! You two TOTALLY clicked!!! With that eye contact!" Jen wailed, trying to whisper.
"Shut up Jen. I'm not in the mood. I have a headache. Just give me 'till we get to school, please." I said, trying to clear my head still.
"Hahah OK, Addy. I'm sorry."

I still had my eyes closed, and I would somehow easily hear Wesley, Troy, and Xavier whispering. 'Wow. I'm having SUCH a great day. I see a ghost, destined to kill me, I meet someone else whose not normal, who talked to me through telepathy, and now I have sudden great hearing. Can today get ANY better?!' I said to myself. I have a habit of talking to myself.
My hone suddenly buzzes, with two unread messages, both from numbers I didn't recognize.

I opened the first one, it was from Xavier. 'How the hell did he get my number?! Oh yeah.. I forgot... Wesley probably got it... somewhere, and gave it to Xavier.'
"Hello Addison. This is Xavier. Wesley, Troy and I are unlike humans, just like you. You probably noticed, from Wesley. Now, I would highly suggest you stop starring at him, or else we are not going to get along very well. Thank you."
Oh my GOD!! What a jerk! I have a lot of things to do during lunch... thank god lunch is and hour and a half. I passed that one to the other unknown number. It was from Wesley. That one, I kind of figured.

"Hello Addison. Don't ask how I got your number. Please sit with me at the very back table during lunch, and I'll explain everything. I have also seen the demon in your house. I saw it in your window. It is, in human terms, a demon. But to me, it is a tortured spirit from Hell, poor creature. I will tell you more during lunch. And thank you, I do have nice eyes, huh?
-Wesley"

I blushed, when he found out what I said about his eyes. Ughh, mind readers are such jerks. Demons... seals... this all seems like one of my nightmares coming to life. But why does this stuff ONLY happen to me? Hmm... So many things in such a little amount of time. Jennifer and Sage were giggling when they saw the text from Wesley. All they saw was the part when he asked me to sit with him in the back of the lunch area and that it was from him. I rolled my eyes at them, and added in Xavier and Wesley's numbers. I was surprised that Troy hadn't texted me. By this time, we just had arrived at school. Great. And a long day begins.... now.
