Chapter 2 of Two Souls

Here's another chapter! :D Please comment!! I need feedback on how I'm doing!! Thanks!!
I nearly fainted when I got to the edge of the gate leading towards the stables. I sprinted one mile, something I never thought I could do. I thought my lungs were going to explode. Morgan comes walking next to me, panting like crazy too. Apparently she's not used to doing that much running either. I opened the gate to the farm and the familiar of stable air hit me like one of those punches I got back in my room; only this was a good punch. The fresh smell of newly cut damp grass, hay, and horses. Being around horses seemed to relax me and helps me to forget all my worries. The stable manager, Mr. Harrison met me at the gate to let me in.

"Why hello there little lady. I haven't seen you around here in quite some time. How have you been?"
He asked, leaning against the gate after he let me in. He wore a black Cowboy hat, a red and brown checkered button-down with long sleeves, a rodeo belt and blue jeans, and what seemed to be brown snake-skin boots. I gotta say, for someone his age, and him being a guy, he had a pretty good taste in fashion. He was in his late 40s and married to the assistant manager here. I'm really close to Kelly. (Kelly is his wife) She's about in her mid-40s and she and I used to ride together before I got all caught up in school and stuff.

"Haha hi Mr. Harrison. Yeah I haven't been here lately because of all the school homework and stuff. But I've been doing well. How about yourself? How's Kel- Mrs. Harrison?"
I asked. I heard a little bell by my feet and I looked down to see Morgan all covered in dust already. I shook my head at how silly she looked trying to shake off the dust. She gave up, and then popped down again at my feet, causing more dust to fly up. Mr. Harrison saw Morgan and he chuckled.

"Haha. You have a funny lil' kitty there Lilliana. And I've been great. The stables still up and running and we're far from debt now so we'll be around for a few more years. Kelly's great too. She's in the farmhouse makin' some late breakfast, if ya wanna pop your head in there and say hello I'm sure she'd be pleased as punch to see ya again."

He said, smiling and patting me on the shoulder. He tipped his hat towards me, and walked away towards the pastures in the far corner. This seemed to be my second home, in a way. Both Mr. Harrison and Kelly make me feel so welcome, like I belong here. Everything seems so familiar too. The big red barn to the right, with an iron gate in the back leading to one of the few pastures they have here. The white wood-painted farmhouse about 25 feet from where I was. It had a little garden in front of it, so I assume they make a living off that as well. I remember once or twice about 5 months ago that they were thinking about buying a few chickens and sheep to keep the money flowing. I paused to listen to the farm sounds. I heard many horse-neighs and then I heard bahh's and clucking not too far away. I was happy for them about them actually starting a farm.

They won the lottery last year for $115,000,000 and bought this 9 acre farm, and a few horses along with it, and it gradually grew from there. I used to spend a lot of time with Kelly so she told me the whole thing. I decided to walk over to the farmhouse and say hi to Kelly for a tiny bit. I pulled out my LG enV Touch to check the time. 10:15. It's a little late but I'll wait a tiny bit before feeding Kelsea. I jogged into the kitchen entryway and knocked on the wall. Kelly looked up from the frying pan and her eyes lit up with excitement as she saw my face.

"Lilliana!!!! Oh dearie I missed you!!"
She said, walking over to the doorway and giving me a big hug. She was a small woman, an inch taller than me. I was 5''4. She had strawberry blond hair; which was curly. She wore a yellow shirt with little red flowers, jeans, and leather Cowboy boots. She wore an apron that said "Kiss the Chef" with a lipstick sign at the bottom. (Jeesh I missed her so much)

"Hi Kelly!!! I missed you so much too!!!! My Mom was running late for work so she didn't have time to feed Kelsea, so I figured I'd do it. I haven't been here in so long anyway I think I should catch up with my own horse, huh?"

I said, giving her a tight hug back. Morgan weaved between Kelly's legs ''mewing'' at the smell of bacon. (Again, sometimes, more dog than cat) Besides me, she liked Kelly more than anyone else, even my mom sometimes. The kitchen smelled and looked the same. Black and white tile, with a light yellowish-beige curtains covering a little window in front of the sink. The walls were a light blue with a white border near the ceiling; which was white. The counter was white tile and covered with cooking utensils. In the middle of the kitchen was a light brown ranch table with four un-matching chairs.

"Well Kelly, umm... I'm going to catch up with Kelsea, k? I miss her too much and I'm gonna hang out with her for a while?"
I said, already walking to the door. I watched her expression; which didn't change.
"Okay dearie. I'll be in here when you're done, if you wanna go ridin' with me, if y'all are okay with that?"

She said, not looking up from her cooking. I always smile as she used her old Tennessee accent. I walked back towards the stables to the entrance doors. All the stalls were full of horses of different sized, shapes and colors. I found Kelsea three horses from the front on the left hand side. I slowly walked over to the front of her stall. She looked at me, and I looked right back. Her hazel eyes boor into mine in familiarity. I raised my hand to her nose, and she sniffed it. As if a little light bulb went off on her she seemed like she immediately knew who I was. She pressed her nose into my hand with force, and I petted her all over, recognizing her scent of many months ago.

I grabbed her black halter off the little hook next to the stall and strapped it on her, the lead rope already attached. I opened her door and she almost bounded out of her stall. I tied her to a little post right outside the barn and quickly went to the feed room to get food for her. After I put feed in her tough I led her back in, and waited for her to finish. Like my cat, she ate quicker than usual. I guess she was eager to see me. (Speaking of Morgan, where was she?) All of a sudden I see her little body come bounding around a corner to my feet, holding a little mouse by its tail. It was squirming and wiggling, squeaking every time it moved.

"Ewww!! Morgan!! Put the damn thing down right now before you get fleas!!!"
I said, crossing my arms. Morgan looked at me with 'But I wanna play with it' eyes but I just shook my head. She never lost eye contact with me as she lowered her head and opened her mouth. The mouse ran as fast as those little legs could go around a bend, with a little trail of dust following it. Appearing annoyed with me, Morgan tossed her head and held her tail high and walked out towards the farmhouse. (Hahaha I'm sorry to say but she is one dumb kitty) I seemed to be zoning when a sudden push of my shoulder made me jump. Kelsea was done with her late breakfast. I put her halter back on and led her out into the chilly October air. As soon as the sunlight hit Kelsea, she shook her white coat, which I noticed was covered in dust.

"Well Kelsea, looks like someone needs to get cleaned up and look all pretty before a ride, eh?"
I said, stroking her long face. As if she understood me she nodded her head up and down and started walking ME over to the grooming stalls a few yards away.
"Hahaha OKAY!!! I'm coming!"

I said, laughing. I caught up with her and led her to a grooming stall. There were chained little clips on either side of the poles near the front of the stall. I hooked one to one little hole in either side of her halter where the clips go and did the same on the other side, and unhooked her lead rope. I hung it by the hook on the next stall because the bridle took place of my nearest hook. My favorite saddle was on a bar on one of the sides of the stall. There was a little house-like building that held all the tack and grooming supplies. I walked in there and took off my shoes. On the floor was a row of different shoe sizes of boots. People who take riding lessons here or own their own horses must wear these for protection. The toes of the boots were rock solid, so if a horse somehow manages to step on your toe it won't cause as much damage. I replaced the space where the boots were with my shoes and popped the boots on. The grooming utensils were all the way in the back of the place. I passed rows and rows of expensive saddles and saddle pads and bridles.

Something caught my attention as I passed a dark brown saddle with tan stirrups. There was a neatly folded piece of paper on the base of the saddle. I'm the curious type so I made sure no one was looking and grabbed the folded note and opened it up. What was inside was something I never would have expected. I quickly put the note in my pocket and grabbed a curry brush and a body brush and rushed out of the tack room. I rammed into someone and fell back on my butt with an oof, dust flying everywhere. I shook my head, having the wind knocked out of me. I glanced at the person who knocked me down with shocked eyes. All I could hear now was my heart thumping faster and faster and the faint sound of Kelsea's neighing.
How am I doin so far?
