Chapter 9 - Captured
It’s just like the title says. I might have a little word choice problem with the title of the chapter but oh well.
Captured
"The next morning, Angel woke up early in spite of how tired she was. She needed to go visit someone.
Angel shivered once she stepped out into the chilly morning breeze.
She thought of what happened yesterday.
"Do I want to continue fighting? Should I? I was almost killed yesterday! No. I already survived one day of battle, I could survive more. Could I? Should I ask Dad? No. He would definitely say I should quit. He would make me quit."
All these thoughts bounced around in her head until she reached her mom’s grave.
"Hi Mom." She greeted, sitting down.
Angel sat in silence thinking things over. After a while she decided that she would continue fighting.
"For Mom" she thought.
"Pray for me. And Dad." Angel whispered to her mother before leaving.
Angel went straight to the church instead of going home. She had brought her sword and dagger with her this morning. Just in case she still was fighting.
"So there you are Angel." Vyu exclaimed when he saw her walk through the door. "Didn’t see you this morning. Thought that maybe you were actually going to stay home."
"I went to visit Mom."
"Oh." They stood there uncomfortably for a few minutes before someone called Vyu away.
Angel took out her sword from its holder and stared it. It was the only thing that could protect her aside from the dagger and her father.
She knew she made the right choice.
Soon, the group assembled in their lines and they set out for another tiring day.
Today was like before. It doesn’t matter how much they kill, there is always going to be more.
Angel knew that the only way get rid of all these multiples was to damage the source. Except no one could tell which one was the real one. Except Angel.
"There!" Angel thought as she fought off another Nesemis. She could feel his aura vibrating in the air. The fakes, however, don’t have any aura at all.
Angel glanced around. Everyone was busy fighting off a Nesemis. She would have to do this on her own.
Killing the Nesemis that was pursuing her, Angel made tracks for the real Nesemis.
Angel took a swing for the real Nesemis while he was fighting Peter. Nesemis caught a glimpse of movement and turned around.
He twirled the sword around in circles by magic and Angel spun around with it.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH."
"Angel!" Vyu cried.
Nesemis continued playing with Angel. Soon, Angel collapsed on the red dirt below.
She had just enough time to see her father blast magic at Nesemis.
"So he can do magic." She thought. Then, she blacked out.
Angel’s eyes fluttered and then finally opened. It took a second before she took in her surroundings.
She was in a cramped, stone room. Dust and a few rats littered the floor. She was laying on a ratty cot and the moonlight shone through the window next to her. A door stood on the other side of the room. With 3 sweeping strides Angel reached the door.
"What the-" Her panic grew with each tug she pulled. The door just wouldn’t loosen up! "Open up you stupid door!" She pounded the door until droplets of red appeared on her hands.
It finally dawned on her. She had fainted. Right by Nesemis. Her father wasn’t here with her. That only meant one thing.
She was captured.
Captured. Trapped. By Nesemis.
Now, the only way to see her father again was in heaven.
Angel slid her back down the rusty door, tears dripping. All hope lost.
The next morning, Angel was awoken by a painful screech from the door. In glided Nesemis.
He shoved a wooden bowl toward her. It was filled with unidentified goop.
"Eat." Nesemis growled.
Angel looked at Nesemis in surprise.
"You can talk?"
Instead of answering he nodded and swept out of the room with a big bang from the door.
Moments later, Angel saw Nesemis from her window. He was heading for the battle area.
On the spur of the moment, Angel came up with a plan. Might not work but it was the only plan she has.
Angel waited for Nesemis to get out of sight before she made her move. As soon as Nesemis disappeared, Angel took out her dagger.
Nesemis may have tooken her sword but he didn’t know about the dagger.
Eyes searching, Angel finally settled for the bowl of goop that Nesemis had just given her.
Standing a few feet back, Angel threw the bowl at the window.
Glass shattered everywhere. Careful to not cut herself, she dodged the pieces as she made her way back to the window.
Next, she used her dagger to carefully cut the metal wires that kept her inside the stuffy room.
One by one, the wires fell.
Soon enough, all the wires were cut. Angel jumped out, free again. She rounded back to the front.
When Angel reached the doors, she was hesitant to go in. Gathering up her courage, she burst inside.
Right away, she spotted what she came back for. Her sword laid on the only table in the room.
Angel reclaimed her sword. Her weapon.
Now, she was ready. Ready to defeat Nesemis once and for all. Even if it leads to death."
