Chapter 8 - The Battle

Previous Chapter: A New Member. OK. this chapter describes what happens to Angel when she goes out to battle for the first time. Again please do the poll thingy.
The Battle

"Step by step they walked toward the battle area, with Vyu and Angel leading. After about 20 minutes the spirits joined them. Only, they glided instead of stepping.
Finally, when Angel thought she couldn’t take another step, they stopped and stood there waiting.
"I’m already tired just walking here. There’s no way I could actually fight!" She considered just walking home and wait for her father in her safe hut but she quickly pushed this idea off a mental cliff.
Angel always wondered how a whole army could fight just one spirit and not win. Couldn’t they just surround him?
"Well now I’m going to find out. The hard way."
After some more waiting, the ground started to shake uncontrollably. Angel started to run and scream for people to escape but then she saw that they did nothing except clutch tighter to their weapon(s).
"Nesemis is coming."
Indeed, he was. Angel saw a spirit black as ashes slither out from the ground. The air filled with the smell of burning.
They stood there staring at each other for a few moments. Enemy to enemy.
Then, before Angel knew what had happened, the battle started.
Now, Angel knew how Nesemis fought everyone at once. He multiplied himself.
Hundreds of Nesemises suddenly appeared and Angel found herself face to face with one.
Angel swung her sword in panic and the spirit dissolved into a pile of black dust, which slowly began to sink into the ground.
Instantly, another Nesemis replaced the first one and faced her.
Again she swung her sword but the spirit disappeared and appeared right behind her. He gently pushed her but that was enough to send her flying. His hands felt like fire. Cold fire.
Angel landed with a big thump, her sword flinging yards away when her hand knocked against the ground. Her lip began to bleed. Another Nesemis came gliding toward her.
Improvising, Angel tore the dagger from her pocket and stabbed it into one of the multiples of Nesemis. He disappeared like the first one.
Hurriedly, Angel scrambled to get her sword and she instantly turned around, killing another Nesemis.
A distance from her, Angel saw her father being surrounded by five or so Nesemises. Angel rushed to his side, killing some spirits on the way.
With one swing, Angel took out three of the Spirits and her father took care of the rest.
"Thanks."
"No problem Dad." Angel replied, panting
Vyu took a shot at another Nesemis but missed. Angel sliced her sword through him the instant the spirit reappeared.
Her father saw someone in distress and he rushed off to help them. Angel didn’t follow. She knew he could handle it. Plus, she was too tired to run.
After another moment, eight black spirits sprouted from the ground and trapped her. Fire erupted from their hands and she could tell that they were going to throw those at her.
Angel analyzed for a way out of the situation. The only thing she could come up with was for her to jut out her sword and spin around in a full circle.
And that she did. She managed to get at least four of them but the rest melted into the ground once again.
The fighting went on and on. Angel got many bruises and cuts. Soon, the sun made its way to the west and both armies retreated.
The men and Angel walked for another hour to get back and when Vyu and Angel finally got home, they flopped on their beds.
Before, Vyu always received a cup of warm tea when he got home from battle but he had a suspicion that he wouldn’t be drinking any tea for a long time. Seeing as Angel will continue fighting; even after the battle today.
And it was one of the worst the men had ever experienced.
Were they getting weaker? Or was Nesemis getting stronger?"
