Chapter 5
"So?" I said. "Have any great ideas?" "Hmmmm." Shasa said, and started to make a whole in the bag with her beak. After the whole was big enough, she said, "Climb on my back!" I did and we flew into the sky. "Do you know I’m afraid of heights?" I asked Shasa. "How can you be a bird and be afraid of heights?’ Shasa replied back. She then swooped down and landed on a jumper. We landed in a carnival. Since we were there, I decided to make some money with Shasa. I got paper, a pencil, and one marker. The Poster said: Come see the paradummy! Only $1.00! It was perfect. I pulled up a chair, and put the sign on the legs of the chair. I sat down Shasa on my lap. Soon, 15 people came by wanting to see Shasa. I started to talk. "So." I asked Shasa. "Do you have any riddles or jokes for the folks?" "Hmmm. What has four eyes but can’t see?" "A blind monster?" Someone from the crowd shouted. "No Mississippi." Shasa said laughing. Everyone laughed. It was funny because they thought I was really talking for Shasa, when it was Shasa talking for herself. Someone gave me five bucks!! I had enough to get home. When I got home from the bus, I was tired. My eyes felt that they weighed 10 pounds, so I opened the door and sneaked into my bedroom. Dorris was in there with a key in his hand and in the closet was my sister Sunny. "Let her out!" Shasa said. "NO!" Dorris said back and made a mean face. I jumped on Dorris and held him to the ground, while Shasa grabbed the key from his hand. She grabbed Sunny from the closet, and I stuffed Dorris back in. Sunny was crying. "It’s o.k." Shasa said. Sunny hugged Shasa and sat on her lap. "Did he scratch you?" Shasa asked Sunny. "No I should be fine." Replied Sunny. We heard my window open, and about 100 paradummies came into my room with the ruler…. The evil ruler……
