Chapter 3: Alone in the Dark

Through the bushes, past the shrubs as they cut into my legs but I ignored it and just kept running, with it too hard to fight back the tears as they rolled down my cheeks and making my eyes blur, until it was almost impossible to keep running. I collapsed near a bush, panting, short of breath, with the faint taste of blood in my mouth. I stopped breathing for a second and then started blubbering, before crying. Screaming how I could have let myself do that, and then stopped for I didn’t want to get caught incase he was even more pissed, after he gave me freedom, he gave me another chance, and I didn’t even know him. What felt like hours passed, and what seemed to be getting colder, I kind of enjoyed just sitting there, questioning my thoughts when I heard a rustle in the bushes, and jumped off the ground. I stood there, with all my hairs on end waiting alertly, knowing and hoping in my mind that it would not be my rapists but my special guy, but as far as I knew he was dead. The rustling was getting louder and louder, until the only thing between me and the unknown was a few leaves. Finally something leaped out of the bushes…

It was him. The love of my life. The only person I wished to see. But how did he or could he have survived that. He was cornered by at least 4 big looking blokes. "Nice to see you did as you’re told, I like women like that," he said to me with a smile on his face. "But wait, how or what.. no wait it couldn’t have, you couldn’t have.. I am so…" as my words were cut off by the collision of his lips to mine, which turned into a rather passionate kiss, even though we were on the cold, hard ground, but I didn’t mind. He tangled my hair around his fingers and knotted it. "Wait, just stop." I said. "I don’t even know you name and.." my words cut off again by his hand over my mouth. "That’s not important at the moment. You are not safe here, and we have not got much time before they come back again for me."

"Well run away with me, you can live with me and they will never know. It will just be me and you, like our little secret. And by the way my name is Renee."

"I am so sorry, but I have to face him sooner or later." He replied.

"What are you crazy.. no you don’t, don’t be crazy and no.. just promise you won’t go looking for him, please keep that promise for me."

"Pfftt.. it’s not like I really have a choice, you see, he is my brother."

"What!!.. I can’t believe this!" I was absolutely shocked.

"Yer I know. Well you see ever since we were little he always went hunting and was always the favorite to my dad. Than he started going out with chicks, and then he would hurt them, and I would always help them escape and get the shit from him. And he would absolutely kill me if I ever stood up for a girl he had on his mind. Which just so happened to be you, and that’s why I am pretty much going to die." He looked down at the ground and tears started coming out of his eyes. "And that is why I have to face him, because, well because I would commit suicide if he did anything bad to you. So here is 20 dollars, I know it’s not much but it is all that I have, and keep running straight, and um.. you will reach the road.." then he stopped and burst into tears. "Stop It! I am not leaving this spot without you. So I go with you." I then crossed my arms and waited for his reply. "Fuck you are stubborn. OK then well, quick we have to go!"

We got up and ran for it.
