In a mixing bowl, take one tablespoon of olive or vegetable oil and combine it with three tablespoons of sugar. Stir these ingredients together till they are completely blended. Once the sugar has fully dissolved in the oil, apply it on the hands and massage your hands for 5-7 minutes. After this, wash your hands with warm water (do not use soap) and pat dry. In the same way, you can also make a mixture of lemon juice and oil for your hands. To make this solution, combine one teaspoon of oil with lemon juice and rose water. Once it is prepared, you can not only apply it on your hands, but also on your elbows, knuckles, etc.
Remedy #2
Cornmeal is also a good home remedy for curing the problem of chapped hands. Take some cornmeal in a bowl and add some water and soap flakes to it. Mix till the solution achieves the consistency of a paste and set aside. Peel and seed a cucumber and squeeze some juice out of it into a bowl. Mix ½ teaspoon of honey into it and store it in a container. Once this is done, wash your hands thoroughly with the cornmeal paste and pat dry. After this, apply the cucumber-honey mixture to your hands and cover your hands in a plastic bag for 15-20 minutes. After 20 minutes, you can rinse your hands with water, followed by an application of a moisturizer or hand cream. Repeating this procedure 2-3 times everyday, for at least a week, can help in curing the problem of chapped hands.
Remedy #3
Another home remedy to cure chapped hands is by using a mixture of almond oil and buttermilk on them. To prepare this mixture, you must take one cup of buttermilk and mix it with 3 teaspoons of almond oil. Apply this mixture on your hands and massage well. Allow the mixture to dry on your hands naturally and then repeat the same procedure again. This should be done till the entire mixture that you have made is used up. After you massage your hands with this solution, wear cotton gloves and let it remain on your hands for the entire night. Rinse your hands well in the morning.
Apart from these remedies, you can also try massaging your hands with a mixture of glycerin and lemon juice to get soft and supple hands. There are also some important things that one must practice to prevent hands from chapping. Instead of using soap, you can use bath oil or maybe even a mild soap to wash hands. Other than this, one must also avoid washing one's hands too often as this is one of the main reason that causes the occurrence of chapped hands. Moisturizing your hands with lotion or cream at least twice in a day can help in curing as well as preventing the problem of chapped hands.
