One Less Cavity

This article gives information on an effective sugar substitute used for cavity prevention.
To this day I am still waiting for the day when I will go to the dentist and hear those two sweet words, "no cavities." My last visit I was close, only one, yet I only think that the reason for that is because I’m running out of teeth that haven’t already been filled! I mean don’t get me wrong, I’ve always took pretty good care of my teeth, but I guess my need for sweets has gotten me in trouble one too many times. Now I’m not a big fan of sugar free candy, so that option is pretty much out of the picture. A cavity is much better than having to eat that yucky tasteless sugar free stuff. I’ve lived where low carb candy was also abundant, but that didn’t please me either, I’m not sure how anyone could go through eating those low carb health snacks in order to keep their diet. I would never survive on the stuff. Well I might survive, but even if the diet did have a positive effect on me, to me just the thought of losing my sweet tooth makes a chill run down my spine. Well, its time to introduce a new health supplement worth mentioning. Introducing my newest friend, Xylitol.

Xylitol is a nutritional supplement that looks and taste just like sugar. It is naturally occurring and only differs in its chemical structure. Most sugar alcohols contain 6 carbon atoms, but xylitol has 5 carbon atoms. It is found in many vegetables and fruits and even is produced in the human body in small amounts. You may recognize its name on many popular chewing gum wrappers as a substitute for sugar. Using xylitol has been proven to help with cavity prevention and that is why big name companies such as Trident have been using xylitol for some time now. The reason xylitol works is because unlike other sugars, the bacteria found inside your mouth began to consume it, but because of its difference in structure the bacteria are not able to metabolize and therefore cannot survive. So if you are looking for an effective cavity prevention plan, look for this dietary supplement, it can reduce the chance of getting a cavity by 80%! Now that I know all this, maybe the day isn’t too far off when I will hear my dentist tell me that I do not have any cavities. I might just throw myself a no cavity party and buy all the xylitol health snacks I can find to share with all who come to my party.

So there you have it, if you are like me and are desperate for a sugar substitute and health snacks that will actually help prevent those dreaded cavities then xylitol may just be the thing for you.
