Caught Up In A Trance

A support for a victim of sexual assault.
So let me wake up from the nightmares of my sleep,
Illusions of violence and disturbance,
Help me to face up to the reality,
To let go of the pain that I'm suffering.
She was an innocent,
A by-standing suffragette,
An angel caught up in a trance.
She fell into his eyes,
Enchanted and hypnotized,
She stepped into his dance.

She was my sunshine, the brightest spark,
To young to know the road she had chosen,
He took her hand and led her to the dark,
He played around with her emotions,
He took her innocence,
Offered no recompense,
Left her feeling dirty and fouled,
She built up the pain inside,
Hid all the tears she cried,
Away from the world.

I just want to hold her to make things alright,
To bury the pain of bad memories,
To give her the comfort she needs to get by,
To help her pull through all the misery.
If I could just take her pain,
Just take away the shame,
Casting it's shadow in her heart,
Creating the crystal tears.
It hurts me to see her fear,
To see her cry so hard.

My sweet little angel, I'll always be here,
When you need a shoulder to cry on,
When life's an illusion within a blank stare
And memories can't be relied on,
I'll open my arms to you,
To share all the pain with you,
I'll cry the same tears from my eyes,
I'll renew your innocence,
Cleanse out your inner sense,
To return your smile.

Let out the anger that's built up inside,
Let your instincts go on the rampage,
Scream at the rain, scream into the night,
Scream out the emotional wreckage,
Then roar your triumph
At an unsympathetic world,
Unwise to the heartache you've been through,
They may not know your pain.
So let me be your hero, and
I'll always stand by you.
