Cat Behavior Problems

Having a pet is as much of a responsibility as it is a joy. Pet owners should know the likes, dislikes and the temperament of their pets well before opting for a pet. In fact, different pets are suitable for different types of people depending on their lifestyles. Cats are one such species who are suitable to a rare few type of people.

Like every other living being, cats also have their behavioral problems. It is extremely necessary that cat-owners should know the temperament of the cat before seeking cure for such behavioral problems.Some behavioral problems seen in cats are attitude problems, misbehavior and in extreme cases, violence.

To ensure that cats don't have behavioral problems, cat owners can take some precautions. Owners must ensure that they do not surprise their cats. The surprise may be anything, like suddenly taking away their food while they're eating. Cats don't like surprises.A surprised cat may become very angry and attack any and everyone.

Another way of ensuring good behavior is by disciplining cats in a non-violent way and training them as to what's right and wrong. Owners can pat the cat when they do something right, or show them what they did is wrong with a standard action of the head or the head.

Corporal punishment is a strict no-no with cats. As any living being, corporal punishment will just make the cat more irritable and sometimes even more violent. Therefore cat owners should desist from physical punishment as much as possible.

Cats should go through medical examinations regularly. A vet can tell you if there have been any psychological differences in the cat, which may further cause any such behavioral problems.

Animals have little or no litter sense, and more often than not, it takes a long time to house train them. Therefore, it is suggested that cat owners buy a litter box to ease the pets' as well as their life.

Cats could be the most possessive creatures on the planet. Therefore, if the cat owner has other pets, they should try to ensure that the cats do not see the time they spend with their other pets. This will cause the cats to be unsure of their place in the house and therefore have cat behaviorial problems like irritation or violence.

Cat owners can also ensure that their cats do not have behavioral problems by making certain mistakes and mischiefs the cat may commit impossible. Cats are born foodies and if the cat has a habit of stealing food, owners can stop it by using airtight boxes.

Some cat antics may actually tell the cat owners what they really wish to do. Dumping their food with their toys means that they just want to keep the toys in a safe place. If cats are petted and they knead their paws, it means that they are reciprocating the love shown. Cats are more active during the night and even hunt during the night. Therefore, it is suggested that cat

owners get another feline companion to the cat to ensure that they have a good night's sleep. The cat may not be liking the food serves if it dumps it and makes actions as if it's burying the food. Cats also attack ankles as a hunting practice. To decrease this, cat owners should give more toys to the cat, so that they have something else to play with all the time.

Cats need sometime with their owners almost everyday. Therefore, the cat owner should devote sometime to the cat on a daily basis. The cat may become irritable, bored and violent if the owner can't do this.
