Cardio Workout Routines
You don't have to go to the gym to practice some cardiovascular exercise routines. There are many cardio workout routines that can practiced in your own home and even outdoors. Some of these cardiovascular exercises do not even require expensive exercise equipment.
Power Walking
Walking is one of the most effective and yet the most simple exercise. It is an ideal example of cardio exercise routines for men and for women. Walking exercise is generally preferred by people who are elderly and obese. Walking is also one of the most safest exercises as it exerts very less pressure on joints and muscles. If you are new to walking, start of with walking for 20 minutes first as it serves as an excellent warm up. After you complete your first 20 minutes of walking, make sure you do a session of power walking for at least 10 minutes. As you get used to this schedule increase your walking time and make sure you do not talk while you are walking. The best way to achieve this is to leave your mobile phones and i-Pods at home.
Swimming
Swimming or water aerobics are a hit among people of all ages. Swimming is often called a total body workout, and like boxing and running it is considered to be one of the best cardio exercise routines for weight loss. If you are beginners in swimming start with freestyle swimming, a 20 minute swimming session can burn up to 300 calories. Water aerobics is very different from land aerobics. It includes a lot of stretching and light weightlifting exercises in the water which gives a total body workout and helps to shed off that extra flab in lesser time. Swimming and water aerobics are one of the most preferred cardio exercise routines for women.
Workout DVDs
Practicing exercises from a workout DVD is one of the ideal examples of cardio exercise routines at home. It is also an easy way to set your heart pumping and bring out a sweat. These DVDs include a variety of aerobic exercises which help giving you a ripped body and tones your muscles. Some of these DVDs also include cardio kickboxing moves and dance routines to lose weight. If you purchase a new DVD every 3 months, you can have your collection of great workout DVDs in no time and you will never get bored of doing the same exercises again and again.
Jump Rope
Everybody has used a jump rope at least once in his/her lifetime. I think it's one of the cheapest examples of exercise equipment and effective weight loss. You can purchase it at your local supermarket or borrow it from your kids. To get a great cardiovascular workout, just skip for 20 minutes. If you are opting for an advanced cardiovascular exercise routine, skip 100 times, as fast as you can, then slow down your jump rate to do higher and comfortable jumps.
Running
Running remains one of the best cardio exercise routines to burn fat. Running and jogging are still and will always be one of the most popular cardio workout routines for kids and adults. Running doesn't require any special exercise equipment, you just put on your running shoes, do some stretching exercises and go for a long run. If you want to burn some excess calories, go for a run on a hill or opt for a sprint. Before you go for a long run, just have a good warm up so that you don't experience any pressure or pain on your knees and ankles.
If you want to try some more cardio exercise routines, you can opt for some yoga, join aerobic classes or even climb stairs up and down. Before opting for any of these cardio workout routines, I advise to check with your physician, so that he/she will let you know which exercise suits your body condition and which doesn't.
