Knitting Patterns for Cardigans (Beginners): Lace Pullover Sweater
Required Materials
- Crystal Palace Yarns by Mikado
- A Beautiful Luster Ribbon ~ 50%cotton and 50% rayon
- 112 yards (50 grams)
- 9 (10) Balls ~ Color 7301-Amethyst
- Size 8 US Needles (5mm)
- Size 9 US Needles (5.5 mm)
- Crochet Hook Size H-8 (5 mm)
Note: Sizes: (Medium); Finished Chest Measurement: 35 (39)'' ; Pattern Stitch: Horseshoe Stitch: Multiple of 10.
Knitting Instructions
Row 1 (RS): k1, *yo, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, yo, k1,; rep from *, end k1.
Row 2 and all even rows: Here you will have to Purl.
Row 3: k1, *k1, yo, k2, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k2, yo, k2; rep from *, end k1.
Row 5: k1, *k2, yo, k1, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k1, yp, k3; rep from *, end k1.
Row 7: k1, *k3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k4; rep from *, end k1.
Row 8: Here you will have to Purl again.
Repeat these 8 rows above and follow these further more instructions to complete your sweater neatly.
Back: Using smaller needles CO 92 (102) sts and start working in k1, p1 rib for 2''. Now switch to larger needles and begin the pattern with st. Keep working until the piece measures nearly 18'' and until you have completed knitting the row 8. Now work k3, p3 rib and cont in rib for 4(5)''. BO in pat.
Front: Work up for Back till the piece measures 3(4)'' less than the Back. On the next RS row, work some 36 (38) sts across. Next, join the 2nd yarn ball and BO 20 (26) sts, to complete row. Now simultaneously working both sides with separate yarn balls, at each neck edge dec 1 st; every row 10 times. Keep knitting until the piece measures same as the Back piece. BO in pat.
Sleeves: Using smaller needles, Co 82 sts for both sizes. Knit in k1, p1 rib for 1''. Now switch to larger needles and p. inc 10 sts evenly across row. Begin with pattern st and knit until the piece measures nearly 9'' till you have completed row 8. BO
Finishing: This is the final step towards your pretty lace pullover sweater. In this stage, you have to sew shoulders together. Use a crochet hook and knit your work round of a single crochet, around the neck area. Mark 9½'' downward from each shoulder seam and sew in sleeves. To neatly conclude the knitting, sew sleeve side seams and regular seams. Weave in ends on the WS.

Required Materials
- 1 Pr. No. 3 Needles - 14 inch
- 1 Pr. 3½ Needles - 14 inch
- Scale: 5 ridges to 2''
- Sports Yarn
- 1 Skein (Any Color)
Knitting Instructions
Row 1: *sl 1, k1, yo,; rep from * across row, end sl 1, k1
Row 2: *sl 1, k2tog, yo,; rep from * across row, end sl 1, k1
Rep Row 2 for the entire cap. Measure 6'' while knitting and working.
Now switch to No.3 needles and knit in pat for 2''.
Next step: change to p1, k1 rib, work the yo, sl 1 of prev row as 1 st.
Try to work 1 inch evenly.
Then cont in rib, dec by p2tog, k2tig across row every other row until there are 12 sts remaining.
In the next step: Break the yarn neatly and draw through sts on the needle. Immediately sew the side seam and fasten the yarn tightly and neatly.
