Creative Card Making Ideas for Various Occasions

Birthday Cards
A birthday is the most common occasion that people shop for. To begin with, why not make this occasion special by making a handmade card?
  • You can keep the theme of the card as that of the zodiac sign of the person. So you can hint at certain things, like using the zodiac stone, or using codes that have the persons lucky numbers, etc. You can even shape the card as the symbol of the zodiac, like you can make a crab shaped card for a Cancerian or a card in the shape of weighing pans for a Libran, etc.
  • You can make the card in the form of a small booklet, with progressive numbers on each page, till the persons eventual birthday. For example, if a person has turned thirteen, you can make a card that has thirteen pages numbered one to thirteen. You can either stick pictures on each page showing the birthday celebrations for that year, or you can pen down details of significant happenings for that year.
  • If it's your grandfathers or grandmothers birthday, then you can take a small piece of chart paper and make all of your family members write small notes on the card, about how much they love him and how he's influenced them. This is bound to make his eyes well up.
Get Well Soon Cards
When a person is ill, his spirits aren't exactly touching the sky. He could always use some cheering up. A get well soon card is easy to make. You can draw a cloud on the card cover and put a line there saying 'Heard you've been under the weather' and then show a small teddy bear holding an umbrella standing under the cloud saying 'But I'll still be here for you forever!'. You can also draw a small vial on the cover of your card which says 'Vitamin Me' on the cover of the vial. You can also take a plain piece of white paper and stick it on the cover of the card and write 'Rx - Lots of love and affection', to make it look like a prescription.

Baby Shower Cards
The news of someone expecting always makes us jump with joy! There are so many ways of giving creative 'congratulation cards' or cards at a baby shower. You can draw four vertically arranged building blocks and write the letters 'B-A-B-Y' on them. You can also cut the card in the shape of a small cot and write some cute quotes about a baby being on the way. You can even make a small beaded bracelet with the words 'baby' or 'bundle of joy' threaded out and stuck on the cover of the card. And then of course, drawing a stork carrying a white package in its beak is an all time favorite.

These were some simple yet fun filled card making ideas for men and for kids. So the next time you step into a card shop, be sure to only search for ideas, not cards!
