Fun Card Games for Two

Spit aka Speed
This is one of the best card games for two players, when you want to just enjoy! All you need for this card game is a deck of 52 cards. Shuffle and deal the cards between the two so that each of them gets 26 cards. You are not supposed to see the cards. When you get the cards, make five piles of cards in front of you, the first pile will contain 5 cards, the second pile will contain 4 cards, third pile 3 cards and so on. This is known as the stock pile. So in the end, both of you will be left with 11 cards in hand. One is not supposed to look at these 11 cards which are known as the spit cards. Now the players are supposed to say spit and play a card from the spit cards, face up, this forms the spit piles. There are just two rules of this game; use only one hand and each player can move only one card at a time. So as the game proceeds, you play a card, smaller or bigger in rank than the face up card on the spit pile. Same numbered cards are not allowed. If you run out of your first stock file, you can use the second one and so on. The aim of the game is to finish the game before your opponent does by playing all the cards.

Gin Rummy
In gin rummy each player is awarded 10 cards. The rest of the cards are set in a pile, face down. The one who has not dealt the cards gets a chance to pick up the first card. There are two compulsory rules; first, you have to pick up a card, either from the stock pile or the discarded cards and second, once you pick up a card, you have to compulsorily discard one card. The object of the game is to organize your hand i.e. your cards into melds. There are two types of melds viz. set and sequences. Set is a group three or four cards of the same rank, for example 2 of clubs, 2 of hearts and 2 of spades. As the name suggests, sequence is a group of cards of consecutive ranking, but of the same suit, like, 2, 3 and 4 of hearts or king, queen and jack of clubs etc. Call out 'Gin' when you have one hand, points will awarded for each hand. The game ends when one player earns 100 points. The others are given 25 points bonus for each hand. Tally all the points. The one who has the most number of points wins.

One of the things that is different from general rummy is that gin rummy has a part called deadwood. The cards which are not a part of set are called deadwood. You are supposed to count the deadwood, kings, queens and jacks have 10 points, aces have 1 point and the other cards according to their face value. The player can 'knock' the other players, if he has ten or less deadwood points. If one does not have any deadwood points, he has to knock. That is called 'gone gin'. For knocking out, the player has to put all his sets and sequences down, the deadwood cards are also put face up. The other player can put any deadwood card into the player's set or sequence. For example, if the player has a set of 3 queens, and there is one queen in the deadwood set, the other player can lay the deadwood queen onto the 'set', which will lower his deadwood points by 10 points. However, this is not possible if the player has 'gone gin', as he will have no deadwood cards. The knocking player cannot lay his cards on the other player's melds.

War
This is one of the easy card games for kids, as well as adults. For this game, all the cards have to be shuffled and dealt equally between the two players. The cards are to be kept face down. As the game starts, one player draws one. The player who has the higher card takes the other player's card and places that card at the end, the bottom of his deck. The game continues until one person gets all the cards. This can be one of the longest as well as shortest card games!

These were some of the easy card games for two. You can enjoy all these games with anyone, but make sure that the other player does not know all the tricks of the games, so that you have the highest chance of winning!
