Car Safety Features You Cannot Do Without

Almost a hundred years ago, when the first motor car rolled out, safety probably would not have been a high priority with the engineers in those times. Elements such as speed and performance could have been more important.

However, in the past century, breathtaking developments in the car industry have given rise to newer concepts and trends unthinkable a few years back. For instance, some luxury cars of today have inbuilt lounge seating and entertainment systems. Indeed, cars have come a long way.

Since a vast majority of cars in use today are being used for family commute, besides luxury, safety is indeed an element that cannot be ignored. Let’s discuss some very basic security features that your car must possess.

Crumple zones: Once a feature found only in luxury cars, crumple zone is now gradually becoming almost a standard security feature. This feature ensures that in the event of a crash, the impact is uniformly distributed across the hood, fenders and the bumper to provide protection to passengers.

Steel belted radials: Though we take them for granted, tyres are an extremely essential safety feature. The element of steel provides a high degree of strength allowing them to withstand high pressures.

Laminated windshield: This is like a glass sandwich that contains a laminate sheet in between two layers of glass. The sandwich concept removes the risk of broken glass pieces flying around in case of a crash.

Side impact bars: Last but not the least, side impact door beams go a long way in absorbing the impact of a collision thereby ensuring the safety of the occupants. Steel beams are embedded inside car doors to provide an extra element of strength to the car.
