Cleaning the Car Carpet
You could approach professional carpet cleaners to get your car carpets cleaned when they look really dirty, however, on a weekly basis, it's not possible to send the car to the professional cleaners. Let's have a look at some car carpet cleaners, which we can use on a weekly basis to get the dirt out of our car carpets.
Step 1: Dusting
Take out the car carpets by unbolting the seats and dust them thoroughly. This will cause all the loose dust, dirt and gravel to fall off.
Step 2: Vacuuming
Lay the carpets on the floor and vacuum it well. Vacuum the floor of the car as well. Move the seats back and forth to access enough floor area.
Step 3: Shampooing
Carpet stains caused by food items, grime, mud, etc. can be quite challenging to tackle. Shampooing the carpet will help get rid of the stains, therefore, get a heavy-duty carpet shampoo. You could also prepare your own car carpet shampoo by mixing 1 tsp of dish soap, to a bucket with 3/4 of a gallon of tepid water. Next add 1 pint of rubbing alcohol, 2 tsp of white vinegar and 1 tsp of ammonia. Stir and pour into an empty spray bottle.
Step 4: Scrubbing
Spray the shampoo lightly onto the car carpet and allow the shampoo to soak for a minute. Using a nylon brush gently scrub the carpet. Dip the nylon brush in a bucket of clean water and gently scrub again. Repeat the brushing and scrubbing on different areas of the carpet, until the entire carpet is clean. At the end, you should be left with a bucket of dirty brown water. Throw the brown water and continue the scrubbing, till the water in the bucket does not turn brown. However, try to use minimum water as possible.
Step 5: Dabbing
Take a clean dry cloth with good absorbing capacity and dab it gently onto the surface of the car carpet. Allow the cloth to absorb as much water as possible. When the cloth becomes wet, use another wet piece of cloth and continue dabbing. Stop when the cloth no longer absorbs any water from the car carpet. If the cloth absorbs dirty water, then it's an indicator that the carpet is still unclean and needs more brushing. If the cloth comes off with only clean water, then you know you have scrubbed well.
Step 6: Drying and Replacing
Once the car carpets have been cleaned and dabbed, it's time to set them to dry under the Sun. Once they have dried place them back into their respective positions and enjoy a ride in the clean car.
Before getting your cleaner and heading to clean the car carpets, make sure it's a sunny day and you won't face difficulties in getting them dried after the wash. Preparing your own car carpet shampoo will save you from shelling out lots of money on a commercial car shampoo. Car carpet cleaner machines are also available, which help clean the carpets well.
