Car Audio Installation Guide
A car audio installation guide is of prime requirement, if you want to install a new stereo system into your car. Here, in this article, I will try to brief you with the details of car audio installation.
Removing the Old Audio System
For starting off with this process, you need to be aware of the car audio wiring. Before starting, disconnect the battery from your car's electrical system. You can simply do this by disconnecting the negative wire of the battery. The old car audio system that you want to remove, is generally connected to the car system with spring clip mounting or bolts. If it has been connected using spring clip mounting, use DIN tools to pull out the clips. Once you hear a click sound, it is confirmed that you have successfully removed the stereo from its dashboard. If the stereo has been installed using bolts, you will have to remove the plastic trim and unscrew the bolts. You will see a plastic wiring harness behind the car stereo. This plastic harness connects the stereo to the car's electrical system. Disconnect the connector from this wiring harness. The final step is to disconnect the positive and negative terminals of the speakers from the audio system. This is a simple process. You just need to unplug the remaining wires.
Installing the New Audio System
The first step in the process becomes very simple if you have purchased a car audio system with a wiring harness. In case, you do not have a wiring harness, you will have to carry out the process by connecting each wire manually. Here, considering that you have a wiring harness along with your new car audio system, we can proceed with the remaining process. Proceed and connect the connector to the wiring harness into your car's audio system. The next step is to connect the speakers to the stereo system. Connect the positive and negative terminal of the speakers to your car stereo. In case your speaker system has only a single wire, then you will have to purchase a new speaker wiring for connecting the speakers. Once you have completed all this connections, do not put in the stereo in its cabinet. It is always wise to check that the settings are working before bolting in your car audio system. Connect the negative terminal of the battery to the car's electrical system and play a CD in your new audio system. If it works properly, simply put the audio system into the case, it has come along with and bolt it to the dashboard.
You should keep a few things in mind when proceeding with the car audio installation. If your new audio system does not have a wiring harness, then do not remove the wiring harness of the car's old audio system. This helps you in determining the wires that you will have to manually connect in your new audio system. Though already mentioned, I will again stress upon the fact to disconnect your car's battery from the audio system, before proceeding with the car audio installation process.
