Captured - Chapter 2
Rachel is finally up and meets Ryan face-to-face for the first time.
When I woke up again for the second time that day I was greeted with a pair of sky blue eyes filled with concern. I sat up abruptly and the last conversation I heard played in my mind. The only thing my mind registered then was the fact that this man, whoever he was, ought to be dangerous. I tried to move as far away from him without letting him notice. Well that plan didn’t work well. He saw it and for a second I thought I saw hurt in his eyes. What a foolish thought. I laughed silently at my imagination. When I looked at him I saw him staring at me. As if he wanted me to answer some unasked question. My gaze faltered when I looked into his eyes this time. They held so much attraction that at first I couldn’t bring myself to look away from them. I had a feeling that I somehow knew these eyes. So beautiful and clear. Suddenly I was brought back from my reverie by the reality. And the reality was that I had no idea where was I and why was I there? Who was this man and why did he save me?
As if he knew what was playing through my mind, he spoke up, "How are you feeling now Rachel?" It was Ryan. I could tell that from his soft and silky voice. "I have been better." I gulped nervously and told him truthfully cause I really didn’t see the point of saying ‘Oh I feel great’ when actually I felt horrible. Ok so that was an exaggeration but still, I had a bullet wound on my shoulder. I didn’t really feel like jumping up and down this moment. He smiled a little then.
"How did you know my name?" I asked suddenly curious. He didn’t answer immediately. He stared at me for a few heart beats before finally answering, "It was on your I.D. You dropped your purse during the fight." "Oh" was all I could say. Brilliant! Now he would think I am stupid. I mean honestly what was I thinking? Of course he had seen my I.D. But he didn’t laugh at me like I thought he would. He simply smiled a to-die-for smile and got up. Then he started to move towards the door while saying, "It’s good to have you here Rachel…" And just as he left I heard him add "…Finally." And this time I could swear I heard that right. But then again I was not in my best shape and I might possibly be imagining things.
Now that I was alone in the room I thought that the next time I met Ryan or any other person here I would ask them about the incident. I had to leave too. These people were nice enough to let me stay here and tend to me when I was wounded and unconscious but I shouldn’t push their hospitality any further.
So I got up from the bed wincing a little and walked around the room to find my purse. While I was busy finding it, I heard the door open and a maid walked in. "Good evening Madam. I see you are feeling better than before." She said kindly. Then she walked towards a door and opened it. I gasped at what I saw there. It was a walk in cup-board and its size was larger than my bedroom back at my place. "Master said to wear anything you like and come join him for dinner. If that’s ok with you Madam." She smiled and bowed and then left the room leaving me rooted at the spot.
I was asked to accompany the head of this whole place to dinner! Well it was bound to raise suspicion in my mind. After all I was a doctor and I looked for the practical reasons behind anything. But for now I found it better not to argue. After all I desperately needed a shower to remove all the fatigue.
