Chapter 15
Michelle's P.O.V.
I held Chad tightly to my chest in an effort to protect him from all harm that was coming towards us. The fire was becoming out of control and the smoke was making it extremely difficult for me to breathe. Although my head was pounding in fear and from the smoke, my chest was paining as I tried to breathe and I was inches away from my enemy, I refused to put down Chad. I was going to protect him with my life if I had to.
I screamed at the top of my lungs for anyone to come and help, but the antisocial people just stared at us as they walked in and out of the restaurant. One person called 911, but I was sure that by the time they arrived something terrible would have already happened.
"I'm going to get you some help," Terry said as he inched closer to me. "Just let go of the little boy. I can't carry you both. I'd take him inside until the police arrive. They should find his parents."
As much as I wanted to get away from the horrifying setting, I only held onto Chad tighter.
"I guess I'd have to do this the hard way then," He said as he covered my face with a piece of cloth.
My heart sped faster as I tried to inhale in spite of the cloth blocking my nose, but that only made things worse. I felt the ground spinning as pretty colours danced in front of my eyes. I tried to make sense of it, but before I could, I was taken into darkness.
I wasn't sure how long it had been before I saw light again. It appeared to be late evening when I painfully opened my eyes. I instantly realized that I was alone in a room with one bed and a window. The window carried a dark blue curtain which was opened a little to allow in a little sunlight.
I tried to move, but my body ached all over. My hands were tightly crossed around my stomach as if I was holding onto something. I tried to move my hands from the position they were in, but that only caused me more pain, resulting in a low scream.
"So I see you're finally up," Terry's voice sounded as he pulled open an iron door and entered the room.
I tried to inch further away from him, praying that I would disappear, but my aching body reminded me that I needed to stay still. "Where am I?" My voice croaked.
"You're safe."
"I asked where I am!" I raised my voice a little.
"Don't yell at me," he walked closer to me. "I'm your only passport to life."
"What?" I asked irritated. Why was I even alone with this man? I knew that I should have been afraid, but anger was my dominant emotion.
"I said that I'm your only passport to life. Do you understand what that means? I decide whether you live or die." He made me to look into his eyes and I smelt alcohol on his breath.
"Where's Daniel?" I asked him ignoring everything he said.
"I can't believe you," he whispered harshly. "Don't you remember anything that happened today? He invited you to the restaurant and didn't show up, and then you got trapped in his car... fire..."
"Oh," was all that escaped from my lips as details of the day's events repeated themselves in my head. I found my heart breaking at the fact that Daniel would do something like that to me.
Would he set up me and his son for us to be killed? I inwardly disagreed. Daniel would never put me or Chad through something like that, he loved us too much. Then again... who knows? Rachael, Emma and Terry all seemed like nice people until their true colours came shining through.
"So you remember?" Terry asked nicely. "I rescued you from all of that."
"No," I whispered. "Daniel would not intentionally hurt me or his son. He loves us."
Terry laughed. "You clearly don't know him."
"And you do?" I asked him annoyed. "Daniel and I were best friends for seven years; I know he wouldn't hurt me like that. Now tell me where is he and Chad."
"What do you care? I thought you would be happy that I was rescuing you from them."
"You are not rescuing me Terry." Tears began to build up in my eyes. "You're only hurting me. I want to see them... And where are my kids?"
"Everyone is safe and you are too." He pressed his lips against mine. "You don't have to worry."
Forgetting all about the pain in my body, I slapped Terry hard in the face. "Don't you dare kiss me again. You understand me? Where are the others?"
He pinned my hands down to my side. "Remember what I told you." He pronounced every syllable distinctly. "I'm your only passport to life. If I were you, I would respect me and do everything I say. If you want me to, I'd get your mother and sister, they're your family."
I didn't say a word. I just allowed the tears to roll uncontrollably down my cheeks.
"Now you understand what is and isn't to be done..." He started to grab my pants, but I stopped him.
"Please don't do this to me Terry," I sobbed. "Where is the love we once had for each other? Can't you find that somewhere?"
For a moment his hard cruel eyes seemed to have softened a bit as he search mine, but almost immediately, they were harsh again.
"Don't you try that on me," he growled and forced my pants down.
"Please? Please? Please? Terry don't do this to me," I begged with tears pouring down my face. "I'm still legally married to your brother. How do you think that would sound? You sleep with your brother's wife?"
"Silence slut!" He ripped my panty. "It isn't like if you didn't do it before. You willingly had sex with me while you two were together."
"That's because you were different back then," I cried. "You were much nicer and caring back then. I actually loved you and I thought you loved me."
"Cut the talk and obey me bitch!" he slapped me in the face. "If you want to see these people again, you need to be good."
"Let me see them, please?" I begged. "I need proof that they are safe.
Terry took up his cellular phone and appeared to be searching it for something. After a couple of seconds, he showed a video to me.
Daniel and Chad were both tied up in a bathroom. Although they were lying directly beside each other, neither of them could touch the other because their hands, feet and mouths were tied up. Tears were flowing down the little boy's face and Daniel looked hurt because there was nothing he could do to help.
"I thought you said they were safe?" I pressured Terry.
"They are. No one is hurting them. However, it's up to you to ensure that all three of your lives would always be safe."
"How would I do that?" I asked as I tried to stop the pouring tears.
"By doing as I say," He smiled evilly as he grabbed my shirt and pulled it over my head.
"Wait," I stopped him. I needed time to think.
Should I listen to him and let him have sex with me in order to save our lives? What if he's lying only to get into me? On the other hand, what if he's telling the truth and I refuse him and he kills all three of us? I needed to take the chance. I needed to save our lives.
I quickly worked out my cycle in my head and inwardly cursed myself when I realized that it was my time of ovulation. If I allowed him to have sex with me, there was a ninety-three percent chance that I can get pregnant. Damn it! I didn't want to go through that again. Two children from him were enough. I couldn't get pregnant by him again. I sighed deeply. I was being self-centered. If I just refuse him because I was afraid of getting pregnant and he killed all of us, that would be worse, right?
Sighing deeply, I decided that I'd let him have his way. I could always take the morning after pill when I get away.
Terry greedily ripped my last piece of clothing off me and forcefully buried himself into me. Uncontrollable tears ran down my face as he repeatedly pumped himself in and out. I tried to think of the benefits of doing it, but only the disadvantages filled my mind.
What seemed to be a lifetime later, Terry finally stopped, but instead of letting me go freely, he knocked me back into darkness.
