Candida: Triggers, RISKS and Treatments

Learn What Causes Candida and What its Complications Are In This Revealing Article
Normally the Candida Albicans, which is basically a fungus that looks like yeast, stays at the gastro-intestinal tract. In fact, it can be seen in the small intestines of 42% men and 50% women. Those in whom yeast overgrowths are seen constitute 20% men, 60% women and 21% boys and girls. Actually, all of us have yeast within us, but we are not aware of this because it does not cause any problem normally. But Candida multiplies and begins to cause a worry only when the helpful bacteria within the body get killed. This happens when we begin to depend on cytotoxic drugs, steroids and antibiotics - they are responsible for killing the good bacteria and bringing in the problems that are caused by Candida Albicans.

There are also a few other factors that lead to candida multiplication and they are...
  • Any food that you eat and that has fermentable carbon in high amounts.
  • Metal poisoning.
  • Diabetes Mellitus.
  • Sterilization, pregnancy, pre or post menopause, and puberty induced hormonal changes.
  • Fluctuations within the body of the levels of hormone.
  • Blood sugar levels going down.
  • Hormone replacement therapy, corticosteroids and birth control pills.
The organism attacks the mucous membrane or the skin as a mycelium, but within the gut it remains as a yeast or spore. Just use a microscope and you will be able to see the filaments. You can recognize them because they look like the ring worm fungi.

What body parts does the candida infection affect? Here they are - nail plates, base of the nails, regions where the skin meets the moist surfaces and the mucous membranes (both the vagina and the mouth).

On closer inspection you will also find pseudo-membranous patches in the tongue and at the buccal mucosa. This happens because of the mucous membrane layers and the growth of the candida there. These symptoms are particularly visible in those who are taking cytotoxic drugs, steroids or antibiotics, and are also seen among babies.

When there is a thick and creamy-white discharge, plus an irritation, it can be a case of Vulvo-vaginitis. The skin around can also become moist and red and there may be sodden white epidermis in close areas too along with the thickening of the mucous membranes. It is mostly seen among pregnant women and among diabetic people.

When a person is suffering from chronic paronychia, what happens is that the candida attacks the nail's base (or the skin around it) and this is what causes the red swelling that looks like glazed bolster, and there is the accompanying loss of the cuticle too. This inflammation starts with pain but though the pain goes away, the inflammation may remain for months and even years. Sometimes the organism also attacks the nail plate and this causes dark brown looking pigmentation at the lateral margins. Women working at fruit processing units and at home often see this kind of candida infection.

In Intertrigo, the candida causes the lesions to be small at the beginning. But these red papulo-squamous patches turn pastular and rupture and when this happens, the reddish, moist and smooth overhanging sodden white epidermis gets exposed. Take a look under the microscope - you will be able to see this.

There are 4 kinds of candida treatments and they are being discussed here...
  • To bring back the healthy intestinal flora, you should cleanse your colon with a herbal solution.
  • You will need to bring down the overgrowth.
  • You should be eating only health food and should also be refraining from superfluous yeast.
  • Advanced supplementation and digestive enzymes are great because they really help.
You surely want to get rid of this candida problem, but what do you do for this? Most people go for conventional medications and find out in the end that though it seemed that the symptoms were gone, but they eventually returned. Well, this is always the case because conventional medications just treat the symptoms without really going deeper into the matter and finding out what is the cause. And since the real causes remain within the body, the symptoms return. Holistic remedies on the other hand treat the body from the inside and eradicate the real cause, and so the symptoms never make a comeback. Holistic remedies propose a change in lifestyle too and also propose the foods that are to be eaten and those that should be avoided.
