Camping, an outdoor recreational activity where one can experience nature first hand and have an excellent bonding time with family and friends. Camping is kind of an extended picnic that can be for just an overnight or several night. While one gets all the camping gear in place, food generally gets people all worked up, especially when the group includes children. Many camp sites provide facilities where one can get access to grills, and other cookware and cooking facilities. But most campsites don't. Turkey and Barley Vegetable Soup
45-50 servings
Ingredients:
  • Cubed turkey, 3 cups
  • Cubed tomatoes, 3 cups
  • Green peas, 2 cups
  • Chopped carrots, 4 cups
  • Chopped celery, 5 cups
  • Diced onions, 3 cups
  • Vegetable stock, 5 qt
  • Tomato puree, 1 qt
  • Butter, 1 cup
  • Barley, 2 cups
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
Over a campfire, heat butter in a large pot, and saute carrots, celery and onions well. Pour in the vegetable stock and stir well, add sauce, salt and pepper to it. Add in the barley and let it simmer for an hour. Add in the peas, tomatoes and turkey and once again let it simmer until the turkey is tender. Serve hot with your choice of bread or rice. Skillet Scramble
10-15 Servings
Ingredients:
  • Ground sausages, 2 pounds
  • Large chopped bell pepper, 2
  • Large chopped red pepper, 2
  • Chopped tomatoes, 5
  • Large onion, 2
  • Large eggs, 12
  • Shredded cheese, 1¾ cup
  • Garlic powder, salt and pepper, to taste
Brown the sausages and then saute the onion, bell and red pepper and tomatoes in a large iron skillet. Adjust seasonings. Drain excess water, and add eggs and scramble all together, until eggs are done. Take the skillet off the heat and melt cheese on the top. Serve hot.

Macaroni and Cheese
25 Servings
Ingredients:
  • Macaroni, 3½ pounds
  • All purpose flour, 2 ounces
  • Milk, 1½ qts
  • Sliced green onions, 1 pound
  • Prepared mustard, 2 ounces
  • Sliced mushrooms, 24 ounces
  • Bread crumbs, 6 ounces
  • Butter, 3 ounces
  • Shredded cheese, 2 pounds
  • Salt and cayenne pepper, to taste
Boil water in a large pot, add macaroni and cook, until tender but firm. Add onions, cook for another couple of minutes and drain. Heat about eight ounces of milk and dissolve flour in it, stirring until smooth. Add the remaining milk, seasonings and flour, stir well. Add in the macaroni, cheese, mushrooms, and let it simmer for ten minutes. Combine bread crumbs and butter, sprinkle over macaroni. Serve hot. Read more on macaroni.

Banana Boats
Serve as per the number of people.
Ingredients:
  • Large banana, as per need
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Milk chocolate chips
Slit the banana, just a few inches on the curved side. Stuff it with chocolate chips and marshmallows and wrap it with a foil. Place the banana onto simmering hot coals, until marshmallows and chocolate chips melt. Remove from fire, eat it hot or when cooled down.
