Camp Games for Kids

So exams are over, and you are all set to take the kids camping. Organizing a camp is difficult as well as thrilling. The fun part of a kids summer camp is that you get to be with loads of kids for couple of days, and the difficult part is that you are going to be with a number of kids for a couple of days! So, you have to think of ways to entertain them. There are many things to do while camping, but camp games for young kids are vital, as games and kids go together! Here are some really unique camping games for children.

Camp Games for Children

Artist, Model, Clay Game: This is one of my favorite camp games for young kids. This game is played between three children, turn by turn. One of the three kids is named the artist, the second kid, the model and the third kid, clay. The artist is blindfolded. The model takes a pose. Then the clay leads the artist to the model, and lets the artist touch the model to understand the pose. When the artist is ready, he will have to pose the clay in the same pose as the model. If the artist is successful in making the clay pose exactly like the model, he wins. The game continues with the next three children. Every kid can be given a chance to be the artist, the clay and the model. This camp game for kids enhances the creativity of children and is also fun.

Bushwhack Game: This is a very interesting camp game for kids. For this game, there have to be at least five kids in each team, but the more the kids, the more the fun, as this is one of the camp games for large groups. Divide the team into two groups. Each team should go out into the forest, but not together. Team one should leave five to ten minutes earlier then team two. As team one proceeds, they should leave hints behind for team two. While leaving the hints, team one can be smart and try to confuse team two by putting hints on two opposite roads! Hints can be pieces of paper, marked branches, colored pebbles, feathers, footprints etc. After leaving hints, team one should hide themselves behind a bush. Team one's work is done. Now team two has to follow the trail with the help of the hints, and try to reach bushwhack location. Before team two tries to reach the site, team one can try to stop them by mock sword fighting or mock wrestling. The team which crosses all hurdles is the winner and the other is bushwhacked!

Balance Your Balloon Game: This is one of the fun filled summer camp games for kids! The kids will enjoy and have a good laugh in this game! Make all the children sit in a circle. After that, every kid should be given a balloon with a message inside it. What the kid is to do, is try balancing himself (sitting) on the balloon for three to five minutes without bursting it! If the balloon bursts, the kid has to do whatever is written on the chit which is inside the balloon. These camping games for children are also easy to organize.

The Sherlock Holmes Game: As the name suggests, this camp game is a bit mysterious and lots of fun as both kids and adults can participate in the game. All the kids have to sit in a circle with their eyes closed. Then one of the adults will pat on the head of one kid. That adult will be the criminal...maybe Voldemort! Then two more adults will pat on children's shoulder, they will be Sherlock Holmes and Nancy Drew! After that, the adults join the kids, and the game starts! Voldemort winks at the children when the detectives aren't looking. If the criminal succeeds in winking without getting caught, the kid has to act as if he is dead or has fainted, for the rest of the game. The game goes on till all the participants have 'fainted' or Voldemort is caught! The adults can make chits, and decide between themselves, as to who will become the detective and the criminal. This camping game for kids will surely sharpen their instincts!

Treasure Hunt: One of the most popular camp games and activities for kids is the treasure hunt, especially if the treasure hunt is organized in a forest! Hide a treasure in the camp. You can hide a couple of gifts like soccer balls, Barbie doll sets, wizard castles or doll houses in a large box. Draw maps showing directions to the treasure, but the directions shouldn't be north or south, they should show some landmarks near the hidden treasure, like a big rock with Hidden Treasure written on it or apple trees etc. To make this treasure hunt more interesting, instead of giving them direct directions, give them clues such as puzzles or riddles, if they get the riddle right, they can proceed, otherwise make them pay a price, like losing a member from the group etc. The group which reaches the treasure first, wins. This camp game for kids is loved by everyone!
