Camels are fascinating animals with special abilities like going without water for long periods plus many others. See more in the article below!
Camels are quite fascinating if you really want to discover more about them. They can be found mainly in Asia and most people know that there are camels with a single hump and there are two-humped camels as well. However the camel term is used to name the one and two-humped camels as well as the south American llama, alpaca, guanaco, and vicuña.

When you encounter camels you will notice how peaceful and obedient they are. It is amazing to see such a big animal how faithfully it listens to the instructions of its owner, it’s like camels are unconscious of their power. They do have power and resistance since they run up to 65 km/h (40 mph) in short bursts and sustain speeds of up to 40 km/h (25 mph). Because they don’t seem to run away from their masters they stick around for quite long, their life span reaching 45-50 years. That’s indeed a long time!

Camels and travel are synonyms so to speak and especially when it comes to traveling through the scorching desert. It can reach as much as 30 miles (48 kilometers) per day. They are also known for their amazing performance of going without water for long periods of time. The time it goes without water varies as it depends on certain conditions like temperature of the environment, the work the camel does and what it feeds on.

However, they don’t lose much water through sweating when compared to other animals and due to this they can resist without water from 8 to 10 days in the specific hot weather of the desert.

They are not only used as means of transportation but also for their milk which is fatter than cow milk and for their meat. The milk is considered to have special health beneficial proprieties and Bedouins in particular consider it a veritable medicine when the camel has consumed certain plants.

Did I mention anything about a camel’s smell? Well…I’ll let you find out about that on your own but a little logic will get the answer: considering they barely have enough water to drink…it is most likely that they don’t take a shower every morning!

However this was successfully used by camels’ cavalry because the horses hate that camel smell and were agitated around them, that’s why when camels get close to the horses they manage to scare them away. In war, you need to use what you’ve got!

There is a lot of fun in owning a camel especially if you like camel racing! This is a well-known sport in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Australia, and Mongolia and just with horse racing these are events used for betting as well as for tourists’ entertainment.
Jewish law does not label camel meat and milk as "kosher". Camels have got a single Kosher criteria: they chew their cuds, but they do not have the second which is the cloven hooves.
