Calories in Black Coffee
Black coffee is not really in everyone's style. Without any sugar, it's very bitter, but very refreshing. It also comes with quite a few health benefits, all of which are listed below.

Black Coffee
Black coffee is perhaps the strongest and the most bitter coffee. The real black coffee contains no milk and no sugar. It is simply some ground coffee beans with hot water in its pure and unadulterated shot of caffeine. Being a very strong coffee, all you need is a couple of sips to get you started on whatever you have to do. Black coffee is typically served in a tiny glass, because that's all you need and with the extreme bitter taste, it is all you can drink!
Counting Calories
Go ahead, guess how many calories a cup of black coffee can have. It's lower than you can ever imagine. A 270 g mug of black coffee contains a measly 5 calories. That's right, 5 black coffee calories per cup! And the chances are, that you never have that much black coffee anyway, so the calories are a lot lesser!
The reason behind the abject paucity of calories in a cup of black coffee is that it contains neither of the two main high calorie components in a normal coffee - milk and sugar. Since most of the calories in normal coffee are from milk and sugar, black coffee having neither of them, has very, very few calories.
On the flip side though, black coffee contains very little in the form of nutrients. In fact, it contains nothing. No fats, no proteins, no carbohydrates, nothing. Which pretty much explains why black coffee calories are so low. Black coffee contains nothing!
Black Coffee with Sugar
Of course, black coffee can be a little bit hard to drink by itself, given how terribly bitter it is. So while you get used to it, perhaps it will make some sense to add a little bit of sugar to it in order to dilute the taste a bit. 2 cubes of granulated sugar will add about 19 calories to the preexisting 5 calories bringing up the total calories in black coffee up to 24. Not bad. The 2 cubes of sugar add about 5 g of carbohydrates to your daily intake, which isn't bad either. But by getting used to the drink, you can cut down on those extra 19 calories and make your drink just that much low-cal!
Black coffee and the pittance of calories which it contains makes for a great drink for you if you're on a diet. Plus, it's pretty easy to make and requires very little in the form of ingredients. So have a sip of this darkish beverage today!
