California Vacations

California travel and tourism information & guide on vacation spots and destinations in California state. California, a Pacific Coast state, is widely known for its natural beauty, farms and factories, and "innovative" social and political ideas. The state is larger than Germany, and its many cities include Los Angeles and San Francisco. Once depicted as a land of opportunity, the state has lured millions of migrants since the mid-19th century, when gold was discovered there. California is bordered by Oregon in the north, by Nevada and Arizona in the east, by Mexico in the south, and by the Pacific Ocean in the west. The state is named after a fictional island of great wealth described in a novel (published about 1500).
