Billed as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", the Calgary Stampede is a large growing festival. It is an exhibition and rodeo which is held annually in Calgary, Alberta. The stampede lasts for 10 days every summer. It usually lasts from early July and ends in mid-July. The Calgary Stampede is one of Canada's largest annual events. It is the worlds biggest outdoor rodeo. The Calgary Stampede features a rodeo competition, a midway, live concerts, agricultural growing competitions, live stage shows, amazing chuckwagon races, and other great attractions. During the Calgary Stampede, the city of Calgary is host to great amounts of tourists dressed in western attire. A lot of local businesses decorate their stores and offices in the beginning of June and keep the decorations until after the Stampede ends.
The Calgary Stampede is held annually at the Stampede Grounds. The Stampede Grounds are located to the southeast of downtown Calgary. This part of Calgary is called the Beltline District. This park is accessible by Calgary Transits light rail system (also known as the C-Train). You can also get to this park by renting parking spaces that local property owners rent out to visitors during the Stampede. The Pengrowth Saddledome and the Round-Up Centre, the agriculture building, the Stampede Casino, and the racetrack as well as some of the smaller buildings in the area are permanent structures at the Stampede site.
