These birds develop strong bonds with their owners and they soon become your best friend for life. They love to explore new things. They speak few words and can be kept alone or in a pair. They tend to become highly territorial, even with humans. Therefore, make sure you remove the bird from the cage before you clean it up or else be ready to get harsh bites.
Colors
The parrot can be black headed or white-headed. The black headed Caique has a black head, orange cheeks and green streak under the eyes. They have bright green colored wings and upper tail feathers. The lower side of their body is beige colored with gray legs and gray beak. The white-headed Caique has a yellow and orange head, green wings and tail, white abdomen with pink legs.
Care
The care includes providing it with a cage that is about 2 feet high and 2 feet across and has 1.5 feet depth. These medium-sized birds are very active and need lots and lots of long-lasting toys. They should be taken out of their cages for their daily exercise. They prefer walking to flying and they should be let out for about 1 hour outside the cage. They will hop around the house and explore new things. But make sure they are supervised at all times. They have quite a reputation for destructive chewing and therefore, make sure their toys are durable.
Caring for them feeding them fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and beans. They should also be given high quality diet of extruded pellets. They should be provided with fresh water at all times. Do not feed them avocado pits, raw onions, potato chips, candies, alcohol, rhubarb, etc. You also need to make sure you provide a shallow bath to your caique. They should be bathed with lukewarm water and always supervise them while giving them a bath.
