Buying American Made Clothing and Products Makes Good Sense

Buying American made clothing helps the economy stay healthier and keeps American citizens employed. Because so many people are losing their jobs because retail sales are down, this is more essential than ever.
Importing inferior products may offer higher profit margins, but does little to help the American economy, since these products are made in foreign countries. American made products including American made clothing helps keep Americans working and the economy gets the added boost it needs.

The economy will prosper if we stick to buying American made products and American made clothing. The number of jobs being lost is primarily due to America’s relying on products from other countries and the dollars that are leaving our economy to go to other foreign countries. This is causing many American companies to close their doors, or at least downsize by laying people off. The future of American children depends on a healthy economy and less dependence on foreign made products. Because everybody is out to make a fast buck, we are purchasing inferior products that are cheaply made in other countries.

American made clothing is becoming extinct, as well. Even clothing with a 'made in America' label may not have been made in the U.S. at all. It may have been outside the United States except for a few decorations, packaging or other minor detail. It takes some research to find out if American made products are totally made in America. Quality and workmanship are the responsibility of American companies, but few may actually uphold any standards. In their irresponsibility, they may be selling their company, their employee’s jobs and even their own job to a foreign country.

American made clothing is being sought by the people who are refusing to buy inferior foreign products because they feel that American made clothing is better quality. They feel strongly that we should take care of our own economy before we support foreign countries. If we want America to have the robust economy it once had, we need to return to the export business instead of relying on imports. American made products can be hard to find these days and that is a sad reality that many people want to see changed. The new ways are not necessarily better, and America was less dependent on foreign countries and foreign countries were more dependent on American made products in past generations.

American made clothing is one of the ways we can utilize our natural resources and support an environmentally safe country while doing it. Man-made resources are not as popular as they once were as more people focus on environmental issues and some companies are capitalizing on the "green" movement. Instead of using import products with lower standards from other countries, America's natural resources are being used more and more. Many of these products are cheaper to make, but just as good as ones that are made from artificial materials.

American made products are still made by cooperatives and they are typically comprised of low-income people trying to survive in today’s economy. They use natural resources found in the U.S. and produce American made clothing in this country. Working conditions, wages, benefits and work environment are some of the things that cooperative members have a say in. All American companies should consider this business model. We should slow down on importing and concentrate on making American made products from the resources we have readily available.

It’s amazing to think of the American made products that could be manufactured in America, if you stop and look around. Creating jobs for Americans could boost our own economy instead of making other countries richer and stronger than the United States. American made clothing and other American made products can provide this economic stimulus and put more Americans to work in the process. Not only would we have better quality products and clothing, but we could return to our once held status as the richest and strongest country in the World.

Choosing American made clothing or products is something every American should participate in to help our ailing economy. You can choose to support America every time you purchase something. If every American stood steadfast in this belief, all of our clothing and products would be American made clothing or American made products instead. Boosting our own economy is simple if we stop bolstering foreign companies with our silly trade agreements that are unfair to us, but offer foreign companies a way to market their inferior goods.
