But Why So Soon? Chapter 23

I opened my eyes, big and wide. I looked up and smiled as I saw the most amazing face. I hadn't slept this well since Jonathan left. His arms embraced my body and my head rested on his chest. It seemed weird that we slept this way at night and our posture was still the same. But it felt so perfect the same moment. I looked at my cell for the time. It was nine and we both were still fast asleep. I lightly pushed his arms, so that I could get out and call Aunt Mary and ask about mom. I called her and heard her fresh voice on the other end.

"Hey! It's Elena!" I said, happy to call her. I heard her laugh and then she asked me about my night and I said magical to which she laughed her happy laugh. I asked her about the mom and she told me that Jonathan already told her about our plan to Paris, and she said that she was fine as Brenda would be now coming to her place instead of mine. I felt relieved and then thanked her and she asked me to bring Bubbles to her place as well. I thanked her again and hung up. Jonathan was still asleep, so I took shower and in mid I found myself staring at the necklace Jonathan gave me last night.

A smile stretched across my face and suddenly I felt so excited. Not only for the fact that Jonathan was back but for the fact that I would be going with him to Paris. It seemed so unreal, too good to be true. I came out and ran to kitchen, and decided to surprise Jonathan. I baked Aunt Mary's special muffins and brownies. I also made a veggie omelet with strawberry smoothie. I placed it on the outside porch and the weather was sunny and windy. I ran inside and dressed into a cream color sundress and applied light makeup. I loved the way "J" shined on my neck. It was around ten thirty and I decided to wake Jonathan up. I saw his handsome face sleeping so peacefully. I bent nearer and kissed lightly on his cheek. He gently opened his eyes and smiled.

"Wake up..." I whispered silently to which he pulled me over him.
"No... let's get back to bed." He said, his voice groggy and sexy. I laughed as he suddenly was over me. He bent down and I kissed him good morning and smiled simultaneously.

"No... I have a surprise for you..." I said between the kisses.

"Okay..." Jonathan finally stood and went to take a bath and get ready. I gave Bubbles his food and he ate it hungrily. Jonathan came out and he looked hot as his hair dripped. He smiled as he looked at the food and gave me a kiss. We both ate and enjoyed, the winds gently bringing us closer.

"So when are we gonna leave for Paris?" I asked, unable to hide my excitement.
"Hmm.... at evening..." Jonathan said and he looked at my face and got what he wanted to see, surprised.

"Wait...! Today?" I asked as I choked on my brownie. I felt my heartbeat faster and my eyes popped wider.

"Yes..." He said and smiled to which I smiled back like a fool. I ran inside and turned my cupboard upside down. Jonathan stood at the doorway enjoying the view of me all messed up and worried. I rummaged through my clothes, hoping to find something new.

"What should I take?" I thought, even though clothes have always been one of my lowest priorities. I wanted to look pretty because it was an undeniable fact that Jonathan was way hotter for me and I wanted him to think that I am the prettiest. I felt like a kid with such thoughts. Jonathan saw the mixed expression on my face and as if reading my mind he said something that made me all happy.

"You look beautiful... just wear this smile of yours everywhere." Jonathan said and I smiled and hugged him.

It was six thirty and we both were on our way to the airport and my thoughts were still stuck at the moment, when I hugged mom and Bubbles goodbye. I knew I would miss them but now I was with the person I always wanted to be with and it was only for week, so I was not very sad after all. We reached the airport and sat in Jonathan's private jet. The journey was amazing and Jonathan and I talked about a lot of stuff, and I told him that I wanted to visit all the places even Disney land. He laughed and then nodded. It was a long and tiring flight, so we went to Black Diamond as soon as we reached Paris. It felt as if love was in the air. It was night-time but the city seemed so alive and fresh. It was truly a city where dreams come true. The limo crossed the Eiffel tower and my eyes glued to it till the moment it was out of sight. Jonathan held my hand and then I felt a surge of love inside me. I held his face and kissed him, feeling him, realizing that he was all mine for eternity.

I opened my eyes and smelled in the amazing smell of Jonathan. I felt so safe and comfortable in his arms and regardless the city of beauties waited for me, I wanted to stay there forever. He opened his eyes as well and looked at my face and smiled.

"So no plans of waking up and getting out of the bed??" He asked smiling and I shook my head with a tiny smile on my lips.

"No... let's go along with the idea you gave yesterday of staying in bed." I said and he smiled and then pushed away a strand of hair from my face and kissed me.

"Someone very special to me lives here. I want you to meet her. She is like an inspiration to me and I know you will love her as well." Jonathan said as I stared in his midnight blue eyes.

"Should I be jealous?" I joked and then giggled. He laughed hard and then made it quite clear that there was no reason to be jealous because that person was just her grandmother.

I felt very happy to know this because I always wanted a grandparent and now when I was sharing everything with Jonathan, so there was a hope that I could have all those beautiful things that I dreamt of starting from Jonathan himself.

After an hour we were finally up and we both got dressed up. I wore a mocha draped skirt with cream-colored top and a milk coffee-colored vest with black sequence. I bought these clothes a few days back and it felt heavenly after wearing them. I wore my black high heels and felt ready to meet Jonathan's grandmother. I left my hair untied and the brown glimmer in them was looked even more eye-catching and my hair got a bit wavy from end. They looked more like loose curls.

"WOW! You look so beautiful! And sexy!" I heard Jonathan from the back as I saw him so perfectly suited up in Brioni.

"Thank you!" I said as I made my way towards him and gave him a brief kiss on lips, making sure I don't spoil his perfect face with lip gloss.

I looked around as Jonathan drove his 2012 Audi 7. I looked at his face and saw happiness in his eyes.

"I am so happy because now you will finally meet Gramps." Jonathan said and I smiled in glee. The view was amazing and again as we crossed Eiffel tower, my heart skipped a beat. It seemed like an amazing moment and all the time I have spent with Jonathan rushed in to my mind. He took a small turn and we were outside a huge building, majorly consisting of glass windows and walls.

"Gramps is a fashion designer. She has been for very long, as long as I can remember." Jonathan said as I held his hand and filled the empty spaces between his fingers with my hands. The gate was operated automatically and we stepped inside, the cold air from the air conditioner dried my sweat. The place was amazing with such a huge display of pictures of models and everything. I looked around and the girl behind the desk studied Jonathan and her eyes spelled HOT as she scrutinized his body. I felt jealous and outrageous. Jonathan was looking around at the mannequins as we walked towards the desk. He did not notice, but I knew he sensed something wrong as I held his hand even tighter.

"Hey... do you know where Gloria Martinez is?" Jonathan asked the girl and she studied her laptop screen and then finally looked at me and again at him.

"Do you have an appointment?" She asked her voice squeaky.

"No. Tell her that it is Jonathan." Jonathan said. I looked around and felt out-of-place.

She again searched in the laptop and this time she smiled.

"Oh yes! Mr. Jonathan Martinez! Please follow me." She said making her way from behind the desk and leading us to elevator and then to third floor. Whole place smelled like expensive channel perfumes.

On sixth floor, a tall and slender lady with a short gray hair stood with three young girls with pieces of clothes and few designs.

"GRAMPS!!!" Jonathan said and hugged the lady who also lovingly hugged back. She was very slim and very tall. She must be five nine and with that three-inch heel, she was almost six. Jonathan was hardly three inches taller than her. Regardless I was wearing a four-inch high heel, I was hardly five eight.

"Oh I have missed you!!" Jonathan's grandmother said. I always had a weird image of a grandmother in my mind. It was like a short heighted woman, a little plump and living in a small cottage but looking at Jonathan's grandmother, it was completely opposite.

"Hey... meet Elena..." Jonathan said to his grandmother as he held my hand gently and took me to her.

"Hi!" I said in happy tone but suddenly I saw the change in her expression. She looked at me as if I were some inferior person. My stomach ached and I felt a bitter taste in my mouth.

"Hi." She replied dryly. She averted her gaze towards Jonathan who sensed some awkwardness between us.

"Hey I have to go for a meeting... Elena... I will pick you up in an hour." Jonathan said and he gave me a polite kiss. I smiled even though deep inside I was begging him to stop or at least take me away as well. I looked into his eyes, wanting him to understand my situation and he just nodded and left.

"So... um... Nice shop! And you are very pretty even now!" I said, trying to build up a conversation. She suddenly seemed angry.

"Even NOW?" She asked, her eyebrow rose in doubt.

"I mean... I... you look very pretty with gray hair..." I said, feeling sticky all over. What is it with me and Jonathan's family? I wondered why can't they just like me?
"Whatever..." She said dryly and sat on the beautiful white leather sofa. I quietly followed her, suddenly stumbling.

I seated across her so that we could see each other.
"How long have you been in relationship with Jonathan?" She asked her voice firm and cold.

"It has been around a month. Since the day I met him, my life changed drastically. He is everything a girl could dream of..." I said with a smile, which painfully stretched.

"Oh... only a month... that's why Jonathan didn't tell me about you... and yeah he is an amazing person... he could have caught a better fish." She said and suddenly I looked shocked at her. I knew she did not like me but saying it on my face did not make it any less rough. My heart beat painfully as I felt suffocated.

"He talks a lot about you..." I said trying hard to make her like me. She was so important to Jonathan, she must like me.

"No wonder he did not talk about you. What is your plan? How are you going to rob him?? Huh? Look at yourself! It looks like as if you never had a look of a beauty parlor... oh poor you... I will give you all the money you demand but please don't ruin his life..." She said, her eyes piercing through mine. Tears muffled my view as I heard all those harsh words. It was a fact that I did not go to parlors or whatever, but it was mainly because I wasn't able to pay for them and now the way she insulted me by offering money, I felt a pang of hurt inside my heart. First Austin and Caroline, and now her.

"I... I am sorry if I am not rich or don't visit parlors often, but I have my reasons. When I said he changed my life, I meant it. I love him and nothing you offer would ever take him away from me. Please I am trying so hard for you to at least consider me. You are so important to Jonathan, please at least try to talk to me." I said as a tear slipped from my eye.

"Oh what a baby!... Are you seriously thinking that I would ever consider you as a my grandson's girlfriend. Sweetheart listen to me, I am not falling for this little scam... how much money do you want? Would this building do it?" She asked again, her gray-green to me, I am not falling for this little scam... how much money do you want? Would this building do it?" She asked again, her gray-green eyes like Austin's stared into mine.

"What!? Did not you hear me the first time?? I LOVE HIM!! And please if you don't like me then keep it to yourself. Don't just say things... it hurts..." I said as another tear slipped. I felt scared and weak as I looked at her.

"Are you yelling at me? Ordering me what to do?? Get OUT!!" She said and I gave her a horrified look.

"No, I am not yelling at you or ordering you... I was just trying to tell how I felt when..." I tried to explain, but she interrupted me.

"SHUT UP AND LEAVE!" She said and I stood like a statue in shock. How did this whole thing go wrong? I wondered as tears came into my eyes.

"But I am new here and I don't know where to go..." I said, making an excuse to stay so that I could make things better.

"LEAVE!" She said in such a high tone that shook me to the core. I nodded and quietly moved towards the elevator and then left.

I stood outside the building of Jonathan's grandmother's shop. I was waiting for Jonathan, planning how to tell him about the things happened inside. I saw Jonathan's car moving swiftly towards me.

He stopped his car in front of me and I plastered a fake smile over my face. I did not know how to react or how to tell him.

"Gramps just called me and she told me you guys had an amazing time..." Jonathan said as I saw a flicker of happiness in his eyes.

"Yeah we did!!" I lied, my throat narrowing with every word I said. He bent down to give me a long passionate kiss, and all this time my heart wept.
