Bush Backs Up Obama During Speech in Canada

Former President George W. Bush offered President Obama his support in a recent speech in Canada and spoke of a new book that will detail his 12 toughest choices while in office.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney has issued dire warning about President Obama’s decision to cease suspected terrorist "interrogations" in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, noting that the actions are making Americans "less safe." The former president, however, is keeping mum and notes that it’s important that America support the new president. In a speech delivered in Calgary, Alberta on Monday, Bush noted that it is "essential" to support Obama and that he would not criticize the new president, saying that Obama "deserves my silence."

Said Bush, "I love my country a lot more than I love politics. I think it is essential that he be helped in office." Bush is now in the process of writing a book about his days in office. Said Bush, "It’s going to be about the 12 toughest decisions I had to make. I want people to understand what it was like to sit in the Oval Office and have them come in and say we have captured Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, the alleged killer of a guy named Danny Pearl because he was simply Jewish, and we think we have information on further attacks on the United States."

Despite his obvious, unfeigned patriotism and the kind words for Obama, Bush was followed to the speaking engagement by a group of 200 protestors who held signs and continued to protest Bush’s many unpopular decisions while in office. Said protest organizer Peggy Askin, "He shouldn’t be able to go anywhere in the world and just present himself as a private citizen. We do not have any use for bringing war criminals into this country. It’s an affront."
