Burmese Cats
Burmese cats make ideal pets due to their social nature. Here are some traits and details about factors associated with the Burmese cats.
Some of the earliest mentions of the Burmese cats were found in Thailand. It is believed that soldiers who invaded Thailand may have transported the Burmese cats to Burma from Thailand. Records of the first blue Burmese cats were noted in the year 1955 in England. Many colors followed after this record. This has also resulted in many varieties of the Burmese cats.
Description of the Burmese Cats:
These beautiful cats were originally only brown in color. Due to the various breeding programs, Burmese cats can now be seen in a variety of shades. Due to the cross breeding programs, sometimes, the Burmese cats can end up with eyes that have a shade of blue or green, although gold or a shade of yellow is considered to the trademark of a true Burmese cat.
Burmese cats are now categorized into two groups - the American Burmese and the British Burmese cat. The American Burmese cat has fur with short hair, which requires very little grooming. The coat of a Burmese cat has a smooth and glossy finish. The eyes are large in size and have a very innocent appeal. The American Burmese cat has a stronger build as compared to the British Burmese cat. The head is round in shape with a short muzzle. Legs are long and on the slimmer side. They also tend to be heavy boned in their structure. The British Burmese cats are more oriental in their looks; both breeds also show an influence of the Siamese cats.
Different Varieties of the Burmese Cats:
Both the groups of the Burmese cats differ in certain ways from each other and the colors that are accepted as a breed also depends upon the registry. In the USA, shades of brown, chocolate or even lilac are acceptable for Burmese cats. In Britain, colors apart from these such as cream, chocolate tortoiseshell, lilac tortoiseshell or even a shade of caramel are accepted as Burmese cats.
Personality and Temperament of the Burmese Cats:
The Burmese cats are known to be sociable animals and also love to interact with humans. They also are considered to be very intelligent in nature. These being athletic in their build, they display a playful nature even when they turn into adult cats. At times, they display the character of a dog by fetching things as a part of a game. Therefore, Burmese cats make excellent pets for any cat loving family. Their playful nature will keep you busy for hours! Cats being cats, they love to play with toys or even a small piece of ball tied to a thread can turn a Burmese cat into a naughty creature!
Burmese cats also love to talk and they love to communicate in their own way. Their really soft and sweet voice can be really fun to listen to and soothing as well. This just makes them even more adorable. Due to their sociable nature, Burmese cats love being showered with all the love and attention one can give. They also love company so if you are generally at home, then the Burmese cat would prove to be an ideal pet.
Grooming Care for the Burmese Cats:
Burmese cats have a short and shiny coat which means you don’t really have to spend hours brushing their fur. Of course, if stroking your pet is something you enjoy doing; there should be no stopping you from doing the same because your cat would be waiting for all the affection.
Due to the short fur, Burmese cats do not really shed too much fur. Therefore grooming care for the Burmese cats would not really involve much apart from combing the hair once a week and rubbing the body with a soft cloth to get rid of loose hair. An occasional bath is optional but do include it in the routine to keep your cat really clean.
Whatever breed you settle for, shower loads of love on your pet! This will help to develop a healthy relationship between the Burmese cats and you.
