Burdock Root, A Natural Acne Treatment: Part 2
Learning about acne treatment methods, even natural ones can be beneficial. Using burdock root is helping me. Understanding why it helps is even more intriguing.....
Some areas controlled by the Pituitary Gland are:
1. Basic human growth
2. Blood Pressure
3. Functions of sex organs
4. Water regulation
The basic problem of acne occurs within the Sebaceous glands where an oily substance called Sebum is secreted. Sebum is made up of fat and dead skin. Sebum is produced when the sebaceous glands break down and separate.
Sebaceous glands can be found in hair-covered areas and non-haired areas. These glands are found over most of our body with the exception of some places. The oil produced also lubricates the hair in order to prevent drying and damaging. Sebaceous glands open up to the hair follicle or to the pour of the skin itself.
Sebum, when at normal levels, is supposed to:
1. Protect skin from bacteria
2. Keep skin hydrated
What creates or triggers the acne effect?
1. Increased Sebum levels by over active Sebaceous glands often referred to as seborrhea.
2. Sebum and dead skin clog pores
3. Hormone imbalance - increases level of Sebum
4. Walls of hair follicles bursting
Types of Acne that can occur:
1. Acne Vulgaris
2. Acne Nodule cystic
4. Acne Whitehead and Blackhead(called Comedonal acne)
3. Acne Scarring
Use Burdock Root to Treat Acne
Active ingedients of the Burdock are arcigen, calcium, chlorogenic acid, essential oil, flavonoids, iron, inulin, lactone, mucilage, polyacetylenes, potassium, resin, tannin, and taraxosterol.
Let's look at Insulin:
1. Does not increase blood sugar, benefit to diabetes condition
2. soluble fiber - easy on colon
3. May help lower cholesterol and glucose
Polyacetylenes:
1. anti-inflammatory properties
Iron
1. Blood Builder
Again Burdock root is proven to purify the blood and remove the toxins out of it, as well as treat skin problems. One issue we deal with may be found in the liver not functioning properly in detoxifying the blood giving way to unhealthy skin. Not to mention the need for the digestive tract and kidney to function proper.
I found it amazing that when I felt good, I looked good. My body inwardly feels healthy. My digestive system is working as should. The reduction of toxins and the healthiness of the skin has given way to a reduction in bacteria as well. I know that food has been disputed as a cause for acne but I encourage everyone to look again as being a contributor.
I will suggest this. What happens if we feed the body too much of something it already produces naturally, causing an imbalance? Your body may produce more oil, secrete more sugars, naturally. What we eat may become triggers as the body finds ways of discarding things it cannot digest, and or treats as a toxin. This is just a theory in a way, as that I am not a doctor just an experienced acne individual.
