You will need some tools like drill bits, saws, plywood pieces, cutters, hammer, bolts, nails, measuring tape and some decoration materials, if desired. The bunk bed building plan should be implemented in the room where you want to put the bed, or else it would have to be taken there in parts and again assembled. The size and shape consideration should be completely according to the size of your room and your design idea. This is yet another advantage of making your own bunk beds. In order to get started, decide on the box dimensions and the size of the mattress. It would matter a lot whether kids or adults are using the bed. The screws and the joint work should be made in the corners of the box frame.

The supporting arrangement should be attached within the box. These blocks should be strategically screwed in three locations. These would be the sides of the box and one right in the middle of the box. The screw holes must be plugged in to avoid getting hurt. The next step is to set up the beds on the posts. While doing so, make sure that the elevation of the lower as well as the upper bed from the floor level is maintained throughout the fixing. The posts can be fixed into the desired place and the bed boxes slided into the arrangement or the beds can be fixed to the posts and the entire arrangement can be clamped together. The posts and the boxes can have some slots cut into them for nailing the railing into the bunk. This makes the entire structure fit in proper place.

The last stage involves fixing plywood and smoothing the interiors. Take care and use some sturdy equipment for the same, since the bed can be subject to lot of jumping and fighting effects, if kids are using it. Railings can come in next and there is a variety of choice and design available in to make one. While doing these activities, look out for splinters or sharp edges, and immediately sort them with sand papers or filing them.

Kids can add finishing touches by helping in the bedroom decorating and coloring the bunk beds. The bed boxes and corners are a good place for children to highlight their creative potential by sticking up some craft work or drawings in vivid colors.

Check the structure thoroughly for any design flaws and glitches, if any. Finally, you have a very humble yet significant creation of your own. Every time you any of the involved members use it or pass by the bunk bed, it will give a feeling of deep satisfaction to have made the plan a reality.
