How to Make a Bucket Mouse Trap

Follow the simple and easy steps given below to make a mouse trap.

Things you will need
  • 1 large bucket
  • Water
  • Knife
  • Binder clips
  • Tape
  • Plastic bag
  • Long wooden piece
  • Peanut butter
Instructions

Step 1: Take a bucket, large enough to store five gallon of water. Fill it with about three gallons of water. You can add dish soap to the water, to kill the mouse quickly.

Step 2: Cut open the plastic bag and lay it flat on the surface. Now, using a knife, cut a circular piece of the plastic, that fits exactly into the bucket. Place it on the surface of the water in the bucket.

Step 3: Place a long piece of wood in such a way that its one end reaches the ground against the rim of the bucket and the other reaches the top of the bucket. This wooden piece serves as the ramp to the bucket. You could also use a hard plastic or cardboard piece instead of wood. Attach it firmly to the bucket using a tape or binder clips.

Step 4: Drop some crumbs of eatables dipped in peanut butter, in the bucket. Place some crumbs on the ramp too and your bucket trap for mice is ready!

Step 5: Leave this mouse trap undisturbed overnight and check the bucket in the morning. You will most likely find a dead mouse in it. Dispose off the dead mouse as well as the water in the bucket. You can set it up again if you want to catch more mice.

Bucket trap operation is quite simple! The mouse smells the eatables and comes near the trap. When it sees crumbs of food up the ramp, it climbs up the bucket. When it reaches the top and sees more eatables in the bucket, it cannot resist the temptation and jumps in the bucket. Now as the bucket is full of water, the mouse drowns inside. However, if you want to catch the rodent alive, here's another type of bucket mouse trap for you!

All you need is a long plastic tube and a tall heavy weight bucket. The tube should be big enough for the mouse to crawl through. Lay it flat on a table in such a way that one-fourth of the tube is on the table with its end resembling a tunnel. The other part of the tube should hang from the table. Place a tall heavy weight bucket right below the hanging end of the tube. Place some food in the tube towards the end that hangs off the table. Now leave the assembly or the mouse trap undisturbed overnight. You may find a mouse trapped in the bucket when you check it next morning.

Wasn't it easy? So go ahead, make these simple bucket mouse traps and get rid of all the rodents that are messing around in your house! All the best!
