Buck Teeth Correction
How to get rid of buck teeth? Is correcting buck teeth difficult? Read on to know the answers to all of these questions and more...

Orthodontic Treatment
One of the best options for dealing with buck teeth is orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic treatment entails using braces to correct and bring back teeth into a desired position in the oral cavity. In this procedure, metal brackets are placed onto the teeth and are connected to each other with the help of wires. When these wires are pulled, the force tends to bring about tooth movement and hence, helps to bring the tooth into a desired position in the dental arch. For some people, this may not be a favored option due to their concern regarding the aesthetics involved. In such cases, there are many other options available, like the use of composite brackets, which blend in with teeth.
The other option for people is to go in for invisalign buck teeth correction. In invisalign braces, straightening of teeth is done with the help of plastic clear removable aligners, which are to be worn for fixed periods of time (generally ranging from two to three weeks) before they are replaced by a slightly tighter set of aligners. Their biggest advantage is that they can be removed while eating and when cleaning teeth. However, if you really want to fix buck teeth, invisalign braces are to be worn for longer time spans to ensure effectiveness of the treatment. Another option for concerned individuals who have work profiles that require them to interact constantly with people, like air hostesses, receptionists, television anchors, etc., even invisalign sets may be bothersome. So in such cases, these people can avail the use of lingual braces. These are regular metal braces but which are placed on the lingual (inner) surfaces of teeth, due to which they are not visible in the oral cavity. However, extra care needs to be taken in case of lingual braces, as maintaining very good dental health becomes of paramount importance, or else one may end up with multiple cavities in the mouth.
Surgical Options
There are certain cases of buck teeth which are not due to the teeth being very protrusively placed in the oral cavity but due to the maxilla, that is, the upper jaw itself being very forwardly placed. In such cases, merely orthodontic braces will not be of much help, as even with the teeth being placed inwards, they will still seem to protrude out. Thus, there is need for surgical intervention in such cases, so as to deal with the problem of the maxilla being very forwardly placed. At times, even the lower jaw, that is the mandible, may be very backwardly placed which may give the appearance of buck teeth. Both these conditions can be treated with the help of simple orthognathic surgeries.
This was all about how to fix buck teeth and get back that beautiful smile. So, with a little bit of dental care and adequate amount of dental treatment, you too can get that pearly set of whites you've always dreamed of!
